The Affordable, Recycling 3D Printer
Extruder:Melts and extrudes chips into filament
Prototyping Machine:Creates final part by printing and milling
Shredder:Shreds Milk Jugs into usable size
The Future:We proved the viability of printing with milk jugs. Phase II of this project will be to condense our process into a more classroom friendly black box.Faculty Lead: Jay McCormack - Graduate Mentor: David EldJake McLean, Josh Jenkins, Chad Nuxoll, Zhao Liang
Goal:Make 3D Prototyping affordable and accessible for K-12 (STEM) education
• Zero operational cost• Create diverse plastic objects• Simple and robust product• Operationally safe
Solution:We recycle used milk jugs to use as our printing medium. Utilizing both printing and milling processes we can produce various plastic parts.
