BI-ANNUAL REPORT FROM OCTOBER-01, 2012 TO MARCH-31, 2013 INTER / INTRA SCHOOL ACTIVITIES / CONSPICUOUS ACHIE VEMENTS * The school was awarded ‘National School Sanitation Award’ along with a cash prize of Rs.25,000/- by CBSE which was collected by a teacher Mr.Ratan Sharma from CBSE, Delhi. * The school received Silverzone Educational Excellence Award 2012 from Silverzone Foundation, Delhi. The Award includes a Certificate, a Shawl & a Memento.

* Proud Moments for ABPS-Kovaya – Master Rohan Mehta of Std-12 has been recommended for NDA through SSB (Service Selection Board).

* In the Khel Mahakumbh festival organized by the Government of Gujarat at Taluka, District & State level, the students of our school won the cash prize worth Rs.3,29000/- in Swimming, Badminton and Table Tennis competition. SPORTS:

* October 20 to 24, 2012, Shweta Verma ,Darshana Padhiyar, Aditi Chauhan,Vishakha Sharma, Sadique Mansuri, Mandeepsinh Chavda, Divyansh Gupta and Siddharth Pradhan won in the District level and qualified for the State Level U-17 Table Tennis Competition at J.G.International School, Ahmedabad. They were accompanied by the Parent representative Mr.Govind Padhiyar.

* Oct-22 to 26, 2012, Dhruv Barad, Vishal Bharga, Ajay Vadher, Kaustubh Sathe after securing first position in the District took part in the State Level U/17 Net ball competition at Jamnagar.

*Jan 19 & 20, 2013, Pooja Uplanchiwar, Akanksha Dhote, Kinnari Jankat, Bhargavi Rao and Aditi Kulkarni in the Girls group and Arun Chauhan, Bhavin Jadav, Nikunj Devda and Mr.Ashok Shastri (Teacher) A/45 participated in district Level Badminton Competition in the Khel Mahakumbh held at Amreli.

* Jan 28,2013, District Level Swimming Competition Khel Mahakumbh festival was organized at Kovaya wherein 20 Students participated and 15 students were selected for State Level Competition at Surat.

*Feb 3 to 5,2013, Mandeepsinh Chavda, Deep Vasan, Pratik Makwana, Jai Garg & Utsav Sedani took part in Table Tennis State Level Khel Mahakumbh after winning in the district level.

* Feb-13 to 15,2013, Aditi Chauhan and Riya Panchal participated in the State Level Table Tennis. Gagan Deep Yadav secured first in 400 m & 200 m & Haresh Lakhnotra in 100m sprint in the district level.

MUSIC :

* Nov-11,2012, Students participated in different competitions like Lokgeet, group song, vocal & instrumental music in the district Level and all of them got second position in the district level.

* Dec-30, 2012, Aditya Jain accompanied by the music teacher Mr.Rakesh Choubey secured 1st place in Regional Youth Festival and participated in the state level competition on Jan-1, 2013 at Jamnagar. * 9 Jan, 2013, In Balpratibha Khoj competition 12 students secured first in the regional level and they received a cash price Rs2500/. Master Jaimin Gorajia secured first postion in Lok Vadhya in the regional level and received a cash prize.Rs.1000/.

ART :

* Four students, Bhavin Joshi, Archana Vyas, Justina Saji and Bhargavi Rao received Gold Medals in The National Level Handwriting Competitions conducted by Kalabharati Child Art Institute, Aurangabad. * One student Justina Saji received Silver Medal and Four Students Tanushree Pathak, Ankur Chaudhary, Yash Ashwar and Dipti Jain received Bronze Medals from Lalithkala Center for Visual Arts Colouring Competition, Bangalore.

EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS (English, Information Techno logy & GK)

*Nov 27,2012 -116 students from Std-III to X appeared for All India Talent Search Examination and Master Shubham Mehrotra got cash prize of Rs500/ & Manorama Year Book and Gold Medal. Nine students from different classes received silver medals.

* Nov 29, 2012 - 25 Students from Std-I to X appeared for International Informatics Olympiad competition and secured 6 Gold, 5 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals (Total 14 Medals). 5 Students, Archana Vyas-5, Darpa Oza-8, Yash Pande-8, Kinnari Jankat-9 & Kaustubh Sathe-10 were selected and appeared in the 2nd level on Feb-21, 2013. The results are awaited.

* Dec 18, 2012 - 57 Students from Std-I to IX appeared for International Olympiad of English Language. Three Students Master Kathan Jani-3, Master Vivek Bhetaria-4 & Ms.Archana Vyas-5 were selected and appeared for the second level competition on Feb-28, 2013.

* Feb 18, 2012 - 13 Students (5 teams) from Std-VII, VIII & X took part in the 8th International Computer Graphics Championship 2012. They had made the presentation on one of the topics viz. Global Warming, Apps & Gadgets and London Olympics 2012. The results are awaited.

* Class inspections were carried out every month during the academic year and the Best Class and Best Student of the Class were awarded on Feb-26 by Mr.Alok Mishra, Functional Head-HR. CELEBRATIONS

Gandhi Jayanti – It was celebrated in the school by garlanding the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi followed by Bhajans and exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi’s life. Clothes, sweets and other food grains were collected by the students and distributed in nearby slum areas.

Annual Day - The school celebrated its 18th Annual Day on Nov 3, 2012 with great pomp and gaiety by providing exposure to around 500 students on the stage, which was appreciated by all. The theme conveyed was “NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE”. Shri P. S. Mazumdar, Executive President & Unit Head, GCW & NCJW had kindly consented to grace the occasion. The Academic prizes (XI &XII) for the session 2011-12 were also distributed by Smt.Tora Mazumdar, the first lady of GCW & NCJW. Prabhakar House bagged the Best House Award in all areas viz Academics, Cultural, Sports & Overall. The Shield was received by the House Master Mr.Ashok Shastri, all the House teachers and House captain. The Awards for Outstanding Student, Student of the Year, Good Reader, etc. were given away by the Chief Guest Shri P. S. Mazumdar.

Children’s Day Celebration – The school celebrated the birthday of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru by garlanding the portrait. Different games like cricket with teachers, drawing competitions by Axis Bank were organized and all the students were allowed to wear civil dress and they participated with great joy and enthusiasm.

Sports week was organized in the school from December 18 to 22, 2012.

Christmas Celebration - on December 22, 2012, Christmas was celebrated with great enthusiasm by students and teachers. The dance of Santa Claus with Teachers and students was memorable.

Republic Day – Republic Day was celebrated by hoisting the National Flag by the Chief Guest Shri P. S. Mazumdar. The students performed a cultural programme depicting Unity in Diversity of Incredible India. Students also performed variety of exercises using different props. Shri P.S.Mazumdar gave a speech on sustaining development of the country and the role of the youth in it. He also appreciated the efforts of the School team in building the all round personality of students.

Science Day – This day was celebrated in memory of the great scientist Dr.C.V.Raman. Science & I.T. Quiz and the demonstration of various science experiments were demonstrated to develop inquisitiveness and scientific temper in students. A science teacher gave a speech followed by the speech of the Principal. DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES

Sep-25 to Oct 1, 2012, There was a calligraphy workshop in Hindi and English for the selected students for Class-IV to VIII under the guidance of Mrs.Soni Viju and Mrs.Shefali Oza for English and Mr.Ashish Soni and Mr.Bharat Bhushan for Hindi. Oct 4 to 11, 2012, Health & Nutrition week was celebrated. Mr.Ajay Srivastav the Biology Teacher initiated it under the guidance of Principal. It was inaugurated by Madam Tora

Oct-11, 2012, A Talk on Health & Stress management was arranged for the Class-IX to XII. Faculties were Ms.Pooja Puskarna (Psychiatrist) and Ms.Nupur Jain from Apollo Hospital under the guidance of Dr.M.K.Naya (CMO, GCW). Oct-18, 2012, Ms.Bhumika Desai (Protection officer and Institutional Care, Amreli came for the counseling of students with special needs. Dec-11 to 18, 2012, A workshop on Chess was carried out by Mr.Dipal Khanna (District & S.P.University Champion) for classes-V to XI. Medical check-up for all the students was carried out by the doctors of GCW Medical Centre, Kovaya in December 2012 and Mr.Ashwin Rawal (Lab. Incharge) of GCW Medical Center successfully carried out the blood group testing of around 250 students in January 2013. Feb-10, 2013, Five students of Std-11 along with Mr.V.T.Bhadane went to Rajkot for the Arunalal Screening Test. Ms.Anjali Gorajiya and Master Chintan Acharya were selected for the final round at PRL, Ahmedabad. * Oct-26, 2012, Dr.Mrs.Pragnyaram (Group Executive President, Corporate Communications & CSR) visited the school along with Mr.Shiva Sandra (CSR-Head for UltraTech) and Ms.Tejaswini Karle (Team member). She appreciated the efforts put in by the school team towards the holistic development. * Nov-08, 2012, Mrs.Reena Shree (CBSE-NIES-BUD-CIZ of Sanitation Knowledge Development Cell) visited school for inspection of Sanitation of the school.

* Dec-19, 2012, Mr.Jayprakash Mehta, Co-ordinator for Junior Red-Cross, team member Mr.Naresh Gohil & Mr.P..Kurian from ABPS-Jafrabad visited the school to initiate the activities of Junior Red Cross. Mr.Mehta in his speech focused on Peace, health, service and friendship. * Jan-07, 2013, Mr.Ugal Bihari Sharma (Asst. Education Officer, Rajasthan) visited the school.
