Fleming tells Board ‘Everything is Done’ Regarding Hookups to Mendon Schools

ABMI Station Manager Patrick Fleming told the Board of Directors at their monthly meeting Feb. 8 that all the video drops in Mendon have been successfully installed by both Comcast and Verizon. Fleming said the drop at the Miscoe Hill School was placed in a very advantageous position for access by the production van. The hookup at Clough School is also in a good location. In other business, Board Member Brian Sutherland asked Fleming how the new roof was handling the snow. Flem-ing said three feet of ice and snow was up there, but so far no leaks this winter. Board Secretary Earl Pearlman asked about a $20,000 outlay in the check-ing account. Fleming said that was due to a shift in funds from the savings account. Sutherland inquired about the new show, Strictly Business. Fleming said the host took a while to get comfortable but that the taping went well. Production Coordinator Andrew White said the show will feature rotat-ing hosts. Publicity Director Steve Saraceno wondered whether the hosts might get dizzy if they are rotating. But he didn’t say anything. Fleming informed the board that the annual checks from Com-cast will now be coming in March. Sutherland asked Saraceno about Steve Butler, the producer and host of the new show, The Garage. Saraceno said Butler plans to sign up as an ABMI Member at an upcoming board meeting.

Sutherland asked about the snowblower situation. Fleming said he bought one refurbished from the per-son Sutherland recommended. It cost only $325 and is working well. Sutherland asked about the status of the Canon GL-1. Fleming said Custom TV told him it would cost $600 to repair the drum assembly. So Fleming decided not to have it repaired. The BHS video club can still use it as a source camera. The Canon still delivers a good picture. Sutherland commended White on finding a better way to get Broad-cast Pics to change the scores for sport-ing events in the postproduction stage. Sutherland suggested getting a

key from the Mendon Town Hall in case ABMI ever needs to ac-cess its equipment there.
