Habit # 1 – Be Proactive
• Take control and responsibility for your life.
• No Excuses, do not blame others
• You might say, “Mrs. Garcia, I forgot my binder today,
but I borrowed some paper and pencil from a friend, so
I would be prepared for class.”

Habit # 2 – Begin With the End in Mind
• Set goals and define your values
“I want to promote to 9th grade, so I am going to
put forth a lot of effort in my classes starting
now, even though it’s only the fourth week of
school.”

Habit # 3 – Put First Things First
• Prioritize and manage your time
• “While I want to go hang out at the park, I
really need to get home to complete my
colony report in history”

Habit # 4 – Think Win-Win
• There does not have to be a winner/loser in a
discussion, in regards to grades, PE activities, etc.
• Idea is based on mutual respect in all interactions
• Try to resolve conflicts in a way that benefits all
• Recognize/celebrate other’s success

Synergy is achieved when two or more people
work together to create something
better than either could alone.

Habit # 7 – Sharpen the Saw
• Sharpening the saw means regularly renewing and
strengthening the four key dimensions of life
– body, brain, heart, and soul.
• Ideas include exercise, reading, spirituality, eating
healthy foods, listening to music, engaging
appropriately with good friends (on your own time! )
