    RINGWOOD EISTEDDFOD PRESIDENTS WELCOME

    Welcome.

Tonight is really the Showcase part of the 63rd Ringwood Eisteddfod. It is my honour to be able to welcome you all to the wonderful Karralyka Theatre to experience the talent and enjoy the climax of five weeks of artistic achievement.

The Grand Final is two contests. Firstly the vocal with six finalists competing for the Aria Open and its first prize is $5,000. Secondly the Instrumental with five finalists competing for the first prize of $2,000 plus they receive their section winnings. A special part of the evening is also the announcement and presentation of a number of selected and perpetual awards.

The skill of performing in contests takes many hours of dedication, concentration and support by the entrants, their teachers and parents. This year the Eisteddfod ran 56 sections with over six hundred entrants in total. We are very grateful to every entrant for taking the time and effort to be part of the program. More so we are thrilled at the high standard of the entrants this year and hope that the experience has helped inspire them to continue performing well into the future.

The 63rd Eisteddfod did not just happen. It took an amazing amount of effort from the Committee members, Patron Ruth, sponsors, adjudicators, announcers, accompanists, caterers and administrative assistants. New systems were installed to ensure the Eisteddfod will be well placed for the future. A special thank you goes to Stockdale ACS and the team at Bernies Music Land for the work and use of their facilities. Great support was also received and sincerely appreciated from the Mooroolbark Lions and the Maroondah City council.

Please sit back and enjoy the magic talent presented to you tonight. We appreciate your interest and support by being here and look forward to rewarding the artists for their amazing performances.

Bernie Capicchiano. FAMI (dip). CPM. ANZM.

    President Ringwood Eisteddfod Incorporated.
