The Sudanese Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering is organizing the 6th Young African Geotechnical Engineering Conference (AYGEC) to be held in Khartoum Su-dan in November 2018. The conference is a great opportunity for young geotechnical engineers from the African continent to meet, interact, present their work to their peers and gain additional knowledge in the geotechnical field. The confer-ence program will constitute of the following activities:

Theme of the ConferenceThe main theme of the conference will be Geotechnical Engineering in the Tropical and Arid Regions of Africa. Other geotechnical and geo-environmental related subjects to Africa are welcome.

VenueThe conference will be held at the University of Khartoum main campus in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. Khartoum is located at the confluence of the White and Blue Niles. The River Nile flows north towards Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea.Divided by the Niles, Khartoum is a tripartite metropolis with an estimated overall population of over seven million people. Khar-toum together with the two cities, Omdurman and Khartoum Bahri, jointly called the tri-capital and constitute the National Capital of the Republic of Sudan.

Invited SpeakersNational, Regional and International Experts will present keynote lectures during the conference.

Call for AbstractsYoung Engineers and researchers (35 years or less) from Africa are highly requested and encouraged to submit abstracts of their work to info@sssmge.org before the 30th of April 2018.
