Lake Shore’s traditional service and pie fellowship but on Sunday night
As children we both were taught to take a "tithe" from our meager allowances before spending for anything else. The habit continued into adulthood. We can't say we always contributed a tenth, but a gift to the church came first.
For over fifty years now, we have contributed regularly to Lake Shore Baptist Church--not because of habit only but because we believe in the work of the Church. Also, our life together has been generously blessed. Supporting Lake Shore is a way of giving back for an abundant life. Carol and Rufus Spain
Called Business Meeting Wednesday, November 16 — 6:00 p.m.
Agenda: 1. Hear a report from the Committee Coordinating
Council. 2. Consider the budget for 2017
Women’s Bible Study Tuesday, November
10:00 a.m.
Stewardship Report Recent information indicates that for 2016, there were 86 families/individuals who pledged to the 2016 budget. Additionally, there were 35 families/individuals that gave regularly to the budget but didn't pledge. We think there are at least 170 families/individuals that attend Lake Shore. This means that there are at least 49 families/individuals that don't pledge or give regularly. There are many good reasons that one might not give to the budget. But there are also reasons that we consider not so good. Like, no pledge or regular gift to too small. Also, if it works out better for you to give once a year, that's fine. We would prefer that everyone pledge. That gives the Finance Committee a better handle on the budget and gives them confidence that expenditures can be made as needed. But we also understand that the pledging process is not for everybody. Lake Shore members and attendees have given so generously, and markedly in excess of budgeted needs for the last two and a half years, that I feel somewhat ungrateful to suggest areas where we could improve our giving. So, if in doubt, keep giving generously as you have been doing in the recent past, and Stewardship and Finance will continue to be very happy. —Kerry Irons

The Texas Work Force Solutions continues to recognize our Children’s Center as a Texas Rising Star. Last week the Work Force Solutions presented the center with this banner, advertising the quality early care and education provided by our Lake Shore Baptist Children’s Center. We plan to hang it on the fence on the Mountainview side of the playground.

Brittany Ramirez’s mother had breast cancer surgery in Dallas on Wednesday. Brittany is Assistant Director of our Children’s Center. Vicky Hunt always appreciates our prayers. Devon Walker, 15, died on Wednesday, in Speegleville. His service was Monday at First Baptist Hewitt. As a child he was in Pattie Herbert’s child care center, and Pattie asks for prayers for his parents, Jennifer and Kenneth, and for Zoey, his sister and best friend. Helen Hastings moved home from St. Catherine’s on Tuesday after being away since August. We share her joy for this good return home. Darlene Barrett is recovering well from shoulder surgery. JoAnn Miller is still looking forward to getting a second opinion about her illness. Deborah Harris claims the power of prayer and is grateful for all your prayers for her in this difficult time. Debbie Ucci's mother, Phyllis Swanton is progressing well. Soon she hopes to return to her second floor assisted living room at The Healthcare Resort. Catherine Tompson is in the adult unit at DePaul. You are welcome to call her. If you visit her, please go between 6:00-8:00 p.m. Her daughter Rachel Anderson and her family were members of Lake Shore until they moved to Pflugerville in 2015. Bobbee Watts has tumors in her abdomen which proved
malignant. She has a hospice consultation next week.
Her address is 1011 Master’s Way, Kingwood, TX, 77339.

Saint’s Sunday. Her service was at the Church at Horseshoe Bay. Burial was here at Whitehall.
To our Lake Shore family, Thank you to all who played a part in making my ordination and ordination service so wonderful! The process and service itself was so much more incredible than I could have ever imag-ined. Glynn and I are so grateful for the kindness you showed not just to us but also to our families and how welcome you made them feel. Thank you for such an amazing blessing on this twenty-year journey and on my calling before God. Shalom, Ginny Brewer-Boydston and Glynn Boydston

Borrowing something from Church? Let Krysta know. Recently we’ve had several experiences with things “going missing.” If you need to borrow anything from a table to a measuring cup, from chairs to a tablecloth to a trash can, we’re usually happy to lend what we have if the church isn’t scheduled to use it. But please let Krysta know, so she can see if what you need is available, and so we can know where the item is if we need it. Thanks!
