Radio Maria was born as a parish radio in 1983 in the diocese of Milan, Italy. Its purpose was to keep parishioners informed and to help them through prayer, the daily Mass and the Rosary. Radio Maria began broadcasting from its first English-speaking station on May 25, 2000 in Alexandria, LA
On behalf of all of us at Radio Maria US, I want to express our deep gratitude to all our Radio Ma-ria Family for the fervent prayers, long hours of volunteer work, and WKHVDFUL¿FLDOGRQDWLRQVWKDWKHOSHGto make Our Fall Mariathon 2014 a great help in continuing the Mission of Our Lady’s Radio.
In just four and a half days, (Sept. 16-20), we raised almost $107,000. We are truly thankful for your generous support.
/LNH VR PDQ\ RWKHU QRQSUR¿Worganizations today, our needs ex-ceed our resources. Without your generous pledges twice a year, we could not continue.
If you were not able to make a one-time or monthly pledge during the Mariathon, could you please consider doing so today?
The Mariathon never ends as long as there are people waiting WRKHDUWKH*RRG1HZVDQGWR¿QGhope and victory in their desperate struggles with enemies seen and unseen.
Can you please help us to reach them-- to be a “Voice in the wilderness” and to keep Our Lady’s weapon—the Holy Rosary—in the hands and hearts of her Children?
May She and Her Beloved Son bless and reward you!
Fr. Robert Young, OFM
Thank you, generous listeners!
Father Robert Young and Lance Mudd, a long-time supporter of RM from Lake Charles, La., take calls during the Fall Mariathon.
Sept. 2, 2014 Message to Marijana
“Dear children, I, your Moth-er, am coming anew among you out of love which has no end, from endless love of the endless Heavenly Father.
And as I am looking into your hearts I see that many of you ac-cept me as a Mother and, with sincere and pure hearts, you de-sire to be my apostles.
But, I am also the Mother of those of you who do not accept me and who, in the hardness of your hearts, do not desire to come to know the love of my Son.
And you do not know how much my heart suffers and how much I pray to my Son for you. I pray to Him to heal your souls because He can do so. I pray to Him to illuminate you with the miracle of the Holy Spirit so that you may stop, always anew, be-traying, cursing and wounding Him.
With all my heart I pray for you to understand that only my Son is the salvation and the light of the world. And you, my children, my dear apostles, always carry my Son in your hearts and thoughts.
Note: These messages are not yet recognized by the Catholic Church
as having a supernatural origin.
In this way you are carrying love. All those who do not know Him will recognize Him in your love. I am always beside you. In a special way I am beside your shepherds because my Son has called them to lead you on the way to eternity. Thank you, my DSRVWOHV IRU \RXUVDFUL¿FHDQGlove.”
VOLUNTEERS FROM ST. MARTIN CHURCH IN LECOMPTE, La. gath-ered Sept. 9 to assemble and prepare the Radio Maria newsletter for mail-ing. Members of the “Knitting Club” substituted knitting for labeling and mailing the newsletter. Kathleen Brittain, a member of the Knitting Club,
helped organize the group and Father Adam Travis, pastor, spent several hours working alongside the volunteers and the Radio Maria staff. Thank you for your help St. Martin!
Sept. 25, 2014 Message to Marija
“Listening to Radio Maria every day has made a huge impact on my faith. I am constantly learning about the church, details about mass, why we do what we do to praise Jesus. It has made me a better christian, a bet-ter catholic. Thanks to all the volunteers!” -- Katy, Guey-don, La. “For Love of Our Blessed Mother and this radio sta-tion.” -- Jane, Harlingen, Texas
“Thank you for your wonder-ful programming and God bless you.” -- Rose “I enjoy listening to Radio Maria, thank you for all you do to everyone there, God Bless.” -- Gloria, Harlingen, Texas
Listener’s Comments
“Dear children! Also today I call you to also be like the stars, which by their light give light and beauty to oth-ers so they may rejoice. Little chil-dren, also you be the radiance, beauty, joy and peace - and es-pecially prayer - for all those who are far from my love and the love of my Son Jesus. Little children, witness your faith and prayer in joy, in the joy of faith that is in your hearts; and pray for peace, which is a precious gift from God. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
Radio Maria is proud to of-fer one of the most popular pro-grams of the day -- The Holy Ro-sary.
Program of the Month:
Holy RosaryHosted by Various Bishops
and VolunteersEvery day : 3:20 a.m., 6:15 a.m., 7:15
a.m., 3 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m.
The Rosary is prayed several times a day, every day of the week, by various bishops and volunteers. A different mystery of the Rosary is prayed at each of the different time slots, therefore, in the course of one day, a listener could pray all four mysteries of the Rosary.
Most of the time, the Rosary is prayed live by one of our many hosts including Bishop Glen Pro-vost, of Lake Charles, La; Bishop Curtis Guillory, of Beaumont-Port Arthur, Texas; Bishop Roger Morin, of Biloxi, Miss. and volunteers from
Natchitoches, La; Lake Charles, La., Port Arthur, Texas; Alexan-dria, La.; Minster, Ohio and Anna, Ohio. Every Sunday morning, a recording of the full Rosary is prayed by Pope St. John Paul II.
With October celebrated as the “Month of the Rosary,” we invite you to tune in to Radio Ma-ria during one of the many times that it offered on the air. Check the schedule for a more accurate time, since the time varies, de-pending on the day and the time zone.
By Father Robert Young, OFMDirector, Radio Maria USA
This month of October the Church celebrates one of the most “impossible” victories in human his-tory:
The decisive battle of Lepanto lasted only 5 hours, but the victory saved Christian Europe from the threat of invasion by anti-Christian forces. This triumph of the Chris-tian maritime states over the Turks is attributed to the intervention of Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary.
Pope St. Pius V asked that all Christians join him in praying the Rosary continually before and dur-ing the battle. The date was Oc-tober 7, 1571, today known simply as the Feast of the Holy Rosary. The battle was not waged by hu-man forces alone, but by Heav-enly Ones, namely Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth.
Dear friends, our own battles to-day seem to be “impossible” also—whether we speak of the battles against the personal demons of greed, lust, power, addictions-- or whether we speak of the global de-
mons of fanatical religion, atheism, gangs, and drug cartels.
But St. Paul says, “our struggle LVQRWZLWKÀHVKDQGEORRGEXWZLWKthe principalities, with the powers,
with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.” (Eph. 6:12) The warfare is ultimately a spiritual one. And so, the weapons we use must also be spiritual ones if we are to share in the victory which the Spirit of God has already achieved and contin-ues to share with us, through the in-tercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Today the odds seem to be against Christians more than ever. We need the “armor of God” and the “Sword of the Spirit,” to con-quer. We have many ways to pro-tect and defend ourselves in the Catholic Church. But we also need to engage the enemy with the most powerful weapons at hand.
Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, has proven that the one she hands on to us is greater than any assault of the evil one.
Let us pray the Rosary this month for our world and for our country. Let us pray it for our Church, and our families. May Our Lady, Queen of the Rosary, show Herself again our most powerful and victorious Advocate in the bat-tles we face today.
Our Lady conquers all with the RosaryOCTOBER IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY ROSARY
