Dear Sponsor Friends, It is incredibly hard to believe that another year has already gone by, and it is again time for us to begin planning and preparing for our families who are in special need this year.

We want to express our sincere appreciation for those who made the Adopt-A-Family Program such a huge success last year. Because of our sponsors generosity, The Salvation Army Adopt-A-Family Program, assisted 78 families who faced emergency situations within the home during the 2014 Christmas season. We know there are more than 78 families experiencing emergency hardships that could use this help during the holidays. We are sure, through the generosity of individuals and businesses in the Anchorage area, The Salvation Army can reach out to more of those families.

Here is some information you will need to know as an Adopt A Family sponsor.

Following are the items that we are asking you to provide for your ‘adopted family’.

Please note that the Adopt A Family office is at The Salvation Army located at 1701 C Street. Our dropoff location is the same as our office location. If you need to reach me by phone, my direct number is 375-3585.

Thank you for your interest in this program. I look forward to working together with you.

Blessings!

Sybil Smith, Major Adopt A Family Coordinator

The purpose of this Program is to allow SPONSORS to provide CHRISTMAS to families who are facing

emergency situations within their home. 1. Families accepted into the Program are advised that they are not eligible to participate in the city-wide GIFT Program which is available to all low income families 2. We strive to give sponsors their family information in a

timely manner. Our sponsor’s remain anonymous and we request all deliveries be made to our drop-off location.

3. We require that the gifts be new purchased items and

unwrapped. We cannot accept used items as Christmas gifts for this program (NO EXCEPTIONS PLEASE). Please share this with your team or organization. (You may include wrapping paper for the parent to wrap the gifts.)

4. Due to not having access to refrigeration or freezer space, we cannot accept perishables. 5. Gift Certificates (GC) are accepted for food items. We ask child’s gifts to be purchased, not given in a GC. 6.

We will call/email you with a designated time/day to drop off gifts. This will insure an easy drop off without a lot of spon-sors waiting in line. If you have a specific time within those two days you need to drop off, please coordinate with us ahead of time so we can make that time happen for you. 7. PLESASE NOTE: We will need to inventory your family gifts BEFORE you leave. Please help us by making the gifts/food easy to see and check off. We don’t want to have family members accidentally forgotten as has happened in the past.
