El Hajj Malcolm Latif Shabazz is the son of Qubilah Shabazz, and also the grandson,

namesake, and first male heir of the great Muslim revolutionary leader El Hajj Malik El Shabazz

(also known as Malcolm X). Malcolm Shabazz was born October 8th of 1984, in Paris, France. In

his youth, he traveled all over our homeland (North America), from Brooklyn territory, to

Philadelphia, San Antonio, and Los Angeles.

Malcolm’s life took a pivotal turn in 1997. A fire in the apartment of his grandmother Betty

Shabazz caused serious burns, subsequently leading to her {physical} death. Malcolm, at 12 years

old, was charged with manslaughter and arson. He would lose four (4) years of his freedom in a

juvenile detention center for this terrible tragedy. In 2002, an Eighteen year old Malcolm would be

convicted of attempted robbery. 100$ would cost him three (3) more years of his freedom. Only this

time our brotha would not be trapped in a Juvenile detention center, but in the “legalized” slavery

plantations also known as Prison.

In 2010, with many life lessons learned, Malcolm began traveling and connecting with

people Internationally. He went to several countries such as France, Mexico, Syria, Egypt, and

Dubai, meeting with everyone from grassroots activists to prominent world figures. And

Alhamdulillah, Malcolm was fortunate enough to make his Hajj to Mecca.

{Hajj is an Islamic pilgrimage to the holy city, Makkah or Mecca (In the country of Saudi Arabia), which every adult Muslim, if afforded the opportunity, must make at least once in her or his lifetime. This obligation is one of the five fundamental pillars of Islam. It is also tradition that has been continued by

millions of Muslims for over 14 centuries.}

My story with Malcolm starts in late 2011. He was in San Jose, California for a speaking

engagement with Rumec (Revolutionary United Mexicans in Combat, fighting corporate

oppression, ignorance, and poverty through construction). As the 30 or 40 of us listened

attentively to Malcolm’s every word, I couldn’t help but smile and wonder if the feeling I had in that

room was similar to what my elders felt as they listened to El Hajj Malik speak in the 1960s. After

El Hajj Malcolm’s speech, I introduced myself, expressed the impact of his grandfather's

autobiography on my life, and pledged that I would do everything I could to help him on his mission.

The humble natured brotha simply smiled and said, “thank you.” As time progressed, I continued to

reach out and we established a friendship.

El Hajj Malcolm said, “It is the duty of those that do know, to teach those that don’t.” With

that, I present to you excerpts from online conversations (chats) I had with Malcolm. They range

from August of 2012 up to May 8th, 2013. It is time for the Truth to be known.

One characteristic that I quickly noticed in El Hajj Malcolm was righteousness. Much like Yuri

Kochiyama, Erykah Badu, Sinead O Brien, Assata Shakur, and any Individual representing justice

and truth, their actions may not always manifest in the “right” (i.e., politically correct) way, but the

intent behind these figures’ actions is always righteous (such as Malcolm hopping out and

smacking that brotha for abusing a Queen).

On February 3rd, 2013, the Federal Bureau of Investigation kidnapped (arrested) El Hajj

Malcolm Shabazz. The next day, reports from Press TV, NewsOne, and others stated the F.B.I.

arrested Malcolm while on his way to participate in the “Hollywoodism” conference being held

during the 31st Fajr International Film Festival in Iran. The F.B.I. provided NO explanations,

reasoning, “criminal charges” etc. to justify his capture. From a lawful (which is different than

legal) perspective, the actions of the Federal Bureau of Investigations violated Malcolm’s human

rights, as well as violating their oath to uphold the American Constitution for the United States.

On March 9th, Malcolm published a statement to let the people know the truth. His letter

addressed the harassment, abuse, thuggery, and other unlawful actions of the F.B.I., C.I.A., and

other agencies against him and his family. Here is an excerpt of the letter: “I was picked up by authorities after I filed for a visa to Iran, and 2 days prior to my departure. A detective squad from the City of Middletown Police Department surrounded me in the street about 2 blocks from where I was residing. They asked me my name, and I gave them an alias, but they were already well aware of who I actually was. I didn't tell them my real name because I didn't know what was going on. When I was brought before a Judge of City of Middletown court I



was surprised to be informed that I was being charged with Grand Larceny, and False Impersonation charge. Then I was sent to jail, and told to appear again 7 days later. Then following court date the bogus charge of Grand Larceny, which they only put to justify stopping me in first place, was dropped. And they left me to face the False Impersonation. I was offered 90 days for the offense of giving the authorities the wrong name which I declined before bailing out after 2

weeks.

When I was being held within the belly of the beast on trumped up charges, to my rescue came the journalist at Press TV based in Iran. My relationship with powerful & progressive news outfit began in April of 2012, and prior to that I had discussions with their journalist regarding current

events internationally. I developed a positive rapport with some of them, and as a result was invited to travel to Iran to discuss the impact of Hollywood in stereotyping Muslims, Iranians and African people. From January 15th through 18th, 2013, I was a featured interviewee for the Press TV documentary “The Façade of the American Dream”. And prior to my date of departure to Iran,

Lifetime television released a television biopicture called “Betty & Coretta” which was a sensationalistic misrepresentation of my grandparents, my mother and me. This film aside from being poorly acted, and shallow in depth also threatened to inflame old controversies, and open unhealed wounds and to remind the public of sad outcomes without ever identifying B.O.S.S.I., the

C.I.A., F.B.I. and other forces that set the climate for my grandfather’s assassination, and made my family a longsuffering casualty of COINTELPRO, and other antiBlack repression programs. Naturally, anything done to stir up old hatred of The Shabazz Family will impact me as the

namesake, and first male heir of Malcolm X, and whether I am high or low in fortunes does not exempt me from this reality.

The formula for a public assassination is: the character assassination before the physical

assassination; so one has to be made killable before the eyes of the public in order for their eventual murder to then deemed justifiable. And when the time arrives for these hits to be carried out you’re not going to see a C.I.A. agent with a suit & tie, and a badge that says "C.I.A." walk up to someone, and pull the trigger. What they will do is to outsource to local police departments in the region of their target, and to employ those that look like the target of interest to infiltrate the

workings in order to set up the environment for the eventual assassination (character, physical/incarceration, exile) to take place.“

Hajj Malcolm played in Betty Shabazz’s death had been something I wanted to discuss with him

since we first began building. The facts surrounding the event never added up to me, but due to the

sensitive nature of the topic, and limitations of digital communications instead of face to face, I held

my tongue. Here is where I must show love to the wise elder Dick Gregory. Elder Gregory did an

interview for We All Be Radio (Peace to Bro. Ron aka r2c2h2 the artivist) in January, 2013, and

spoke on what really happened that unfortunate stormy night in Yonkers of 1997.

Dick stated that it was not twelve (12)-year-old El Hajj Malcolm who set his grandmother’s

apartment on fire, but (according to some neighbors of Betty Shabazz) four (4) men with hoods on

that were responsible for the blaze. After hearing this information, I could no longer keep quiet. I

sent Malcolm a link to the interview, and asked for his thoughts whenever he got around to

checking it out.

The next day, my brotha G Two forwarded me a message from M1 of Dead Prez that said “R.I.P.

Malcolm,” asking me if it was true. “No way possible,” “I just spoke with him,” “Not gonna believe

it,” were all things I told myself as I began searching Twitter, Facebook, and all sorts of news

outlets, praying it was another internet hoax. I found one article. Then another. Then two more.

None of it was making sense in my mind.

For a week, I had been holding on tight to my belief that Malcolm was safe somewhere in Mexico.

That this was all just an elaborate hoax to outsmart these corrupt agencies that have been after

him. As I walked into Islamic Cultural Center in Oakland for the funeral service, I was forced to let

go of that belief. Malcolm was no longer with us in the physical. A painful truth that was reflected in

the faces of a hundred or so people in attendance.

I struggled with how to conclude this piece. I started to pull some together some information about

his assassination, highlight all of the holes in the stories being reported by the corporate

mainstream media, and call out the so called leaders that are quick to quote El Hajj Malik and say

“by any means necessary”, but have been deafly silent about his grandson’s murder, but I couldn’t

bring myself to do it. That information is of vital importance, and those stories will be told, but I

didn’t write this article for that. This piece was written to shine more light on a great Moorish

American brotha. To help educate and unify the people. And to honor the promise I made to

Malcolm, and myself.
