The sad time has come to say goodbye to our Year 6 students. Their last few months at Langenhoe School have certainly been very different to normal. Some students have remained shielding at home whilst others were able to return to school for several weeks. Keyworker Year 6 children have been with us throughout lockdown. The above photograph shows a happy time when they could enjoy the freedom of being altogether at Kingswood. We do hope all the children leave with fond and happy memories of their time here at Langenhoe School. Whether they have enjoyed being with their friends, playing in the wildlife area, eating delicious school dinners, attending school trips, participating in after school clubs, dancing at the school disco, visiting the Christmas Fayres or even actually learning! We wish each and every child all the best at their chosen secondary school and lots of fun over the summer holidays. Do come back and see us in the future! 10th July 2020 Summer Issue No.5 Langenhoe School & Preschool

We are very sad to announce that Clare Lauwerys, Chair of Governors and Rachel Halliwell-Hughes, Vice Chair are stepping down from their roles at the end of August. They have both shown dedication and commitment to their roles and have helped Langenhoe School immensely over the years, since 2013. We know Langenhoe School has a special place in Clare’s heart, especially after her 2 children Tansy and Xavi both attended school here. The same goes for Rachel who lives in the village and whose son is leaving school today. We wish you both well in the future and thanks is not enough for all your hard work! From September we welcome Bridget Mattack to the role of Chair of Governors and Judith Wheeler to the role of Vice Chair. Both Bridget and Judith will be introducing themselves to parents in September and we wish them all the best in their new roles. We will also have 2 vacancies for parent governors, so if you are interested please look out for further information in September.

Our Reception, Year 1 and Year 5 children also finish school today. It has been lovely seeing so many of you back in school and we hope you have an enjoyable Summer. We welcome some Year 2, 3 and 4 children back to school next

week. This means all children have been given the opportunity to return to school prior to the Summer holidays. We can’t wait to see some more of you next week.

Wednesday 2nd September 2020 is a non-pupil day Children (Years 1 to 6) to start school on Thursday 3rd September 2020

Ray Wicks is one of our parent governors and Foster Contracting in Kelvedon, the company he works for, have very kindly donated a large amount of the materials that are needed to build our school an outdoor classroom. We have been making even more use of our outdoor learning spaces

and to have an outdoor classroom will mean we can use the area in all weathers. Mr Wicks will be donating his time and more materials over the next few weeks to build the classroom for us. A very BIG thank you from all of us!

Uniform Protocol for All Pupils at Langenhoe Primary School September 2020

In September we are still planning for pupils to spend as much time outside as possible. We will aim to

teach at least one lesson a day outside. For as long as possible we want to continue using the field at

playtimes and lunchtimes as children will not be allowed to play with children from different groups.

For these reasons we want there to be some flexibility with the uniform to hopefully make it easier for

parents.

However if parents wish, children can return to school wearing the usual uniform.

All pupils will need to return to school

Wearing a white polo shirt and navy blue sweatshirt or cardigan. These can have the school logo

on, that is preferable but not essential.

Black or navy blue jogging bottoms or leggings can be worn instead of school trousers or skirts

Black or navy shorts can be worn instead of grey school shorts

Trainers can be worn instead of school shoes.

No denim or jeans are to be worn.

In September children and parents will be told onwhich days the class will have PE and children

will be able to come to school wearing their PE kit.

There is no requirement in the Autumn term for children to wear a ‘house’ colour t-shirt for PE as

there will be no house activities. Instead a plain white t- shirt or polo shirt can be worn.

Children are required to wear clean clothes each day.

We are hoping that children will be able to bring home a reading book, so they will be able to bring in a

book bag for that purpose.

Lockers will be used to store coats, lunch boxes and book backs but children will not need to bring

anything else from home and so will not need big bags or rucksacks.

Preschool: The end of term is here and Langenhoe Preschool is closing its doors at the end of term. Throughout the years many children have started their learning journey with us, we have helped, supported and nurtured them, preparing for their next stage in their journey. We find ourselves finishing the school year in different times, not how we imagined! In normal times, we would be celebrating all the children’s achievements and saying goodbye to those leaving us.

We would like to thank all the parents for their support over the year and send a big thank you to the children. Their enthusiasm desire to learn and joyful presence has made our Preschool a wonderful place to be. They truly are amazing and we wish them all the best for their new adventures in the next stage of their learning journey.

Best Wishes, Mrs Barker, Mrs Vincent and Miss Scott xxx
