Competition management will place a notice of this requirement either in its prize list or on a specific handout given to trainers on check in at the competition. If local law has different requirements, local law will prevail. Competitions failing to comply with placing the required number of containers on the show grounds will be considered in violation of the rules and may be subject to penalty as determined by the CEO or Executive Director and/or the Hearing Committee.

Driver’s License Statement Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

Ring Procedure and Attire The show ring will be under the absolute control of the Horse Show Manager. All horses must be ready and waiting to enter the ring promptly. The in-gate must be closed two (2) minutes after the first horse enters the ring. When the gates are closed and the judge has started to work, no exhibitor who is late will be admitted. During the time of the judging, no person will be allowed in the ring except horse show officials, judges, stewards, and when necessary, trainers or attendants of the horses to be judged. All riders, drivers, handlers, and attendants in the show ring must be neatly attired with collared shirts and nice jeans, slacks, or jodhpurs. JEANS WITH HOLES ARE PROHIBITED. Any inappropriately attired individual’s entry may be disqualified by the judge at the judge’s sole discretion. FORMAL ATTIRE IS NOT PROPER BEFORE 6:00 p.m. Exception: formal attire is allowed in Championship Hunter Pleasure classes.

It is a tradition of the competition ring that riders and drivers be correctly attired for the class in question, that attendants be neatly dressed and horses properly presented. The Management may, at its discretion, bar an entry or person from entering the ring if not suitably presented to appear before an audience.

Protective Headgear Except as may otherwise be mandated by local law, the Federation strongly encourages all riders, while riding anywhere on the competition grounds, to wear protective headgear with harness secured which passes or surpasses ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. (Exception hunter, jumper, or hunter/jumper competitions refer to GR801.2) It is the responsibility of the rider, or the parent or guardian or trainer of the junior exhibitor to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate safety standards for protective headgear intended for equestrian use, and is properly fitted and in good condition, and the Federation, Show Committee, and Licensed Officials are not responsible for checking headgear worn for such compliance. As defined in the 2018 Federation Rule Book GR801.4, any exhibitor may wear protective headgear (ASTM/SEI) and/or a protective vest either body protecting or inflatable, specifically designed for use in equestrian sport in any division or class without penalty from the judge. Protective headgear must be worn by all riders in lead line classes at all times while mounted.

Safety Information When coaching riders in the ring, the show prefers that coaches stand on the ground level near the in gate and out gate. Please be aware of other horses in the ring when coaching during classes on the pedestrian level of the concourse directly above the horses in the ring, particularly in juvenile classes. Coaching from the seats, in a seated position, is preferred in this area.

This status must be available for inspection or the competitor must have lodged with the competition secretary, at least one hour prior to such class, an application for such status provided by the Federation. Amateur status will be issued only on receipt of the application properly signed and is revocable at any time for cause. Combining or mixing of different types of gear not permissible except that the Peruvian bit with Peruvian or other curb chain can be used with any head gear and the Peruvian bozal without halter and eye covers can be used in any class which permits the bozal with any approved non-Peruvian saddle. If Western, English, or Australian gear is selected, the appropriate outfit for the rider should match. Attire can be limited to white long-sleeved shirt, white pants, white kerchief, boots, and a Peruvian type hat (i.e. Plantation style hat, planter’s hat or wide brimmed Panama style hat); spurs may be worn at the rider’s option, but must be Peruvian-style or similar per new rules. Ladies may wear a white mid-calf to ankle length split riding skirt and corresponding apparel, as per NAPHA rules. Classes shown under Peruvian gear and in the bit will also require a poncho or dress jacket (blazer). Colors may include grey, beige, brown, black, maroon, navy, sage, or white. A poncho may have stripes running vertically, and be no larger than to adequately fit the height and arm span or the wearer. Consult rules for split skirt attire options. a. Halter/Zootechnico: Scarf tucked into belt, no spurs, hat optional, white athletic type shoes optional. b. Bozal: No Poncho c. Spurs: Optional in all classes, but must be Peruvian type or similar per new NAPHA rules. Slip-on or English

spurs are not allowed. 4. Judge’s Authority – The judges have the authority to place any horse in whatever position he/she thinks the merit of the

horse justifies. Any exhibitor desiring to discuss his placing with a judge must FIRST obtain permission from the Show Steward. No horse, rider, or handler may leave the ring without the permission of the Judge unless there is an emergency; the rider/handler must request permission through the Ring Steward.

5. Champion of Champions Classes:

• Horses that have qualified for Champion & reserve Champion, and Champion of Champions classes MUST be entered. They will NOT be automatically entered in Championship classes.

• Ch or Ch classes will be open to champions of the current year PLUS all previous years champions. All previous champions going directly into Ch of Ch classes must be pre-entered and pay an entry fee. All current champions MUST enter the Ch or Ch class.

• Champions & Champion of Champions from shows other than CSPHC/DQCHS or the NAPHA National Show Must Qualify to enter the Championship classes at this show.

6. Amateur Status: Anyone competing in a class or Division declared for "Amateurs" only must have a signed NAPHA Amateur Declaration on file with the NAPHA. Amateurs must file annually. Regardless of one’s equestrian skills and/or accomplishments, a person is an amateur if after their 18th birthday they have not engaged in any of the activities identified in PART X Glossary of Terms, Section 10 Professional, of the NAPHA Show Rules. Every person who has reached his/her 18th birthday and competes in classes for amateurs under NAPHA rules must be listed on the NAPHA website as an Amateur or have signed a NAPHA Amateur Declaration and filed with the show secretary, prior to the start of the show that morning of the class entered. Amateur status will be issued only on receipt of the application properly signed and is revocable at any time for cause. Any person who has not reached his/her 18th birthday is an amateur and does not require amateur status. See PART X GLOSSERY OF TERMS for complete definition of Amateur and Professional, of the NAPHA Show Rules.

7. Novice Status: Anyone competing in a class or Division declared for "Novices" only must have a signed NAPHA Novice

Declaration on file with the NAPHA. Novices must file this form annually. An exhibitor (18 years and older) can compete in the Novice Division for a period of 3 years. If the Novice, at the end of 3 years has not competed in more than 8 NAPHA approved shows during that period they may extend the time period for another 3 years (double shows count as one show). However, if at any time, a Novice competes and wins a Champion title in gait, breeding, or performance (any other Division above the level of Novice) they will be immediately excluded from competing in the Novice Division at future shows.

8. Junior Performance: In bit, open to junior riders. Any style of tack and attire is acceptable as long as the tack matches the attire. If Peruvian tack is used, Peruvian attire is required. If western tack is used, western attire is required, etc.

9. Performance Classes: Performance classes will be conducted similar to amateur performance which may include such maneuvers as circles, stop, walk, back, serpentine, caracole or whatever the judge requires.

10.Crystal Classes: Crystal classes are open to any gelding, mare or stallion 12 years old or older in bit. 11.Champagne/Perrier Class: All styles of tack and attire are permitted. All riders will receive a full glass of champagne/perrier

when they enter the arena. The judge may require various speeds and maneuvers. Riders will be placed according to the amount of champagne/perrier in their glasses remaining at the end of the class. Junior exhibitors will be judged separately.

Peruvian classes start promptly at 9 a.m. on Friday and Saturday mornings and at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Afternoon classes will start 10 minutes after the morning Saddlebred/Morgan classes (per the schedule). No Peruvian classes will be held in the evenings. Random drug testing may take place at the show management’s discretion. NOTE: The Peruvian Horse Division of the Denver Queen City Horse Show will be conducted under the current rules in the NAPHA Rules of Horse Showing posted online at www.napha.net, with the exception of anything printed in the Premium. Please note we will follow the rules as revised in 2018. Copies of registration papers are required to be submitted with completed entry forms. Acceptable registries are: NAPHA (PPHRNA or AAOBPPH) or the PHAC only.

I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered.

I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation.
