Attendance Award Student Morning Tea Congratulations to our 320+ students who had only 0-4 days
of absence this semester and attended yesterday’s morning
tea. It’s a clean slate for next term and those who missed
out this time have the opportunity to demonstrate resilience
and bounce back for the term 3 morning tea.
Congratulations to our Birthday Children
2016 Prep Students: Enrol Now
All Prep students for 2016 should be enrolled at their preferred school by tomorrow Friday, 26th
June 2015. A package
containing a letter and enrolment form has been sent home to families today who may have a 2016 Prep child. Parents must supply
the school with the following documents for full enrolment:
A completed enrolment form (available from the school).
A copy of your child’s birth certificate (the school will photocopy the original for you).
Birth certificates can be ordered from the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.
A copy of your child’s immunisation certificate (the school will photocopy the original for you).
This document is issued by the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register, on completion of your child’s 4 year old vaccine.
You are encouraged to enrol your 2016 Prep child NOW.
Further details are available at the school office or phone 54430799.
Transition Next term Prep teachers will be visiting pre-schools to get to know the children enrolled at our school for 2015. If you have not yet
completed your enrolment form we ask that it be returned to the school office as soon as possible so that your child can be visited.
Parents or older siblings can pick up enrolment forms from the school office or Mrs Ellis.
Student Banking Please note that there will be no Student Banking on Tuesday 14th July, being the first Tuesday of Term 3.
Getting Ready For School Nights
Our popular Getting Ready for School Nights will be held on Tuesday, 4th
August (Maths and Social Skills) and Tuesday,
11th
August (Language). These nights are designed to assist parents of children starting school next year in preparing their child
for school. The nights run from 6.30pm -7.30pm in the Grade 6 rooms, with childcare available on both nights in the Prep rooms.
Further information concerning these nights can be obtained from Mrs Ellis.
No Bag Required for Qkr Canteen Orders Please note that parents do not need to send a lunch order bag for canteen orders submitted via our Qkr payment app.
Bendigo Health CASEA Program CASEA parent questionnaires that were returned by grade Prep-3 parents have been processed by the CASEA team. Those families
being considered for the program will be directly contacted by the CASEA team for the next shortlisting phase. Places are limited
to a final 8 participants in 2015. I thank parents for your interest and response to the program.
Lost Property There is a large amount of lost property in the box located near the office. Most of these are unnamed. Please make sure all items of
clothing are clearly named, especially jackets as students tend to take them off whilst playing outside. If unnamed items are left in
the lost property box for more than 4 weeks, they are passed on to the sickbay or charity.
Five Ways to Enjoy Family Time 1. Drink water and maintain your fluids. Dehydration can reduce your concentration, motivation and energy. 2. Eat small, healthy
snacks throughout the day. A handful of almonds is a great choice. Avoid burnout by taking a 10 minute break in the morning, at
lunch and in the afternoon. 4. Slow down. Rushing around will leave you out of energy you could use for your family. 5. Get a good
night’s sleep. There’s no better way to recharge your batteries.

th
June at 1.30pm. Students will be required at the South East College Theatre by 12.45pm. We are performing in the first section of

practise prior to the competition.
The 12 students have been practising very hard and are extremely excited to be performing on stage. Please come and support

term.

Prep Incursion
On Wednesday, 29th
July, Wild Action Productions will be bringing their Australian Animal workshop to WHPS. The
workshop is a safe, hands-on wildlife experience for Prep students only. Each grade will attend the workshop for an hour session.
The cost of the session is $12.00 per child. This incursion and another in Term 4 will replace the Prep excursion.
Payment of $12.00 is to be made to the office or on Qkr before 4.00pm on Friday, 24th
July. No late payments will be
accepted in accordance with WHPS policy.

covered in full. Please contact the office for further details.
Shoes for Junior School Children With the wet weather, in an attempt to protect our carpets, children with muddy shoes have been removing their shoes when they
come to school, after recess and lunch times and placing them on a trolley near the door. This requires teachers to tie children’s
shoelaces several times a day. If your child is unable to tie their own laces and you need to buy them new shoes please consider
purchasing pull on boots or shoes with Velcro that your child can put on and take off by him or herself. Please name all shoes.
School Uniform We have noticed over the past term that many children are not wearing the correct school uniform. As stated in our school policy
correct school uniform is compulsory. This means children are to dress in only navy or pale blue shirts, navy pants without stripes
and logos, and navy jumpers or jackets. The school uniform does not include coloured jackets, tights, leggings and skivvies that are
not navy or pale blue. If your child attends school out of uniform they will be changed into the correct school uniform using clean,
spare clothes or you will be contacted to bring up the correct uniform for your child.
Prep Perceptual Motor Program (PMP) Due to the sport’s shed being used for production practice on Monday afternoon, we will not be able to have PMP until after the

us deliver this excellent and vital program aimed at making our kids safe on their bikes.
PARENT HELPERS DO NOT NEED A BIKE TO ASSIST - You will be directing a simple skill based activity and will not need

and have working brakes. Notes and permission forms have also been sent home with full details.
Could we please have all notes in by tomorrow?
Grade 3 Bike ED More Parent helpers needed! Dear Parents,
Our Bike Education Program is a series of skill and safety awareness lessons to develop attitudes and skills that contribute to the
health and wellbeing of individuals and the community. The activities nurture the development of responsible behaviours and
decisions for confident and independent cycling.
As with many of our programs run at school, we require parent helpers to help maintain the quality of the Bike Education Program.
Thank you to those parents who have already offered support, though we still require additional helpers. If you are able to assist this
program, please contact Stephen O’Connor in Grade 3O.
You do not need a bike to be a parent helper. The grade 3 program is conducted completely in the school grounds and
involves a series of skill based activities and challenges that you will supervise but not have to ride.

Congratulations A big congratulations to those students who achieved a 98% attendance rate for this term. These students were rewarded for their
attendance at a special morning tea on Wednesday, which was organised by Mr Jenkyn and Mr Ross. The Grade 5 attendance rate
does need to improve next term. Please ensure that you encourage your child to be at school every day, so that they do not miss
out on crucial learning tasks and assessments. It can be very hard for your child to catch up, even if they have missed one
morning session by being late.
