The Fiftieth Annual General Meeting of the Institution of Engineers (India), Indore Local Centre will

be held on 20th October 2019, Sunday at 11.30 AM in Room No.108, SGSITS, Indore. AGENDA

1. Welcome address by Chairman Dr. Shilpa Tripathi. 2. To confirm the minutes of 49th Annual General Meeting held on 28th October 2018. The

Minutes of the 49th Annual General Meeting are appended with this notice. 3. To receive and adopt 50th Annual Report and the Audited Statement of Accounts of the

Local Centre for the period from 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2019. The Annual Report and the Audited Accounts are appended with this notice.

4. To appoint auditor for the financial year 2019-20. 5. To report action taken on previous decisions. 6. To consider any other business that might be put forward with the permission of Chair.

Minutes of Forty Ninth Annual General Meeting of Centre, held on Sunday, 28th

October 2018 in Room No.108 of SGSITS, Indore

The forty ninth Annual General Meeting of the Institution of Engineers (India), Indore Local Centre was held on 28th October 2018 at 11.00 AM in Room No.108 of Shri G. S. Institute of Technology and Science, Indore. It was well attended by 65 members whose attendance is on record.

The meeting was presided over by Dr. P. P. Bansod, the Chairman of the Centre.

The minutes of the business transacted after the welcome remarks of the Chairman are as under:-

Item No.1 : To confirm the minutes of 48th Annual General Meeting held on

29th October 2017.

The Minutes of 48th AGM held on 29th October 2017 were confirmed

unanimously.

Item No.2 : To receive and adopt 49th Annual Report and the Audited

Statement of Accounts of the Local Centre for the period from 1st

April 2017 to 31st March 2018.

The 49th Annual Report was circulated by the Honorary Secretary.

While discussions members suggested that:-

(i) The matter of depreciation of the assets of Indore Local

Centre be clarified with H.Q.

(ii) The matter related to GST along with the GST IN no of centre

(if required) be discussed and clarified with H.Q.

(iii) Members expressed their satisfaction on the increase in

membership of the local centre.

After some discussions and above suggestions the annual

report of the various activities and the audited statements

for the financial year 2017-18 were approved with following

corrections:-

(a) On page no.13, the annexure should be numbered as II in

place of III.

(b) On page no.16 in Annexure-III, the ‘amount in lacs’ should be

read as “amount in Rupees”.

Item No.3 : To appoint Auditor for the financial year 2018-19 and 2019-20 and

to fix their remuneration.

Three quotations were invited, M/s K. K. Gupta and company,

Chartered Accounts, 318-319, Starlit Tower, 29, Y. N. Road, Opp.

State Bank of India (Z.O.), Indore quoted the lowest remuneration of

Rs.3,500/- + applicable taxes per annum. Members were of the

opinion to appoint the auditor for only one financial year.

Accordingly M/s K. K. Gupta and Company was appointed as auditor

for auditing the account of the Indore Local Centre for the financial

year 2018-19.

Item No.4 : To declare results of Election for the committee of Indore Local Centre for the sessions 2018-19 & 2019-20. Prof. D. A. Mehta, Convenor, Board of Scrutinizers handed over the election results to Dr. P. P. Bansod, Chairman, ILC on 20.10.2018. The Chairman declared the results of the election which are as under:-

Item No.5 : To Install New Chairman and New Honorary Secretary for the

sessions 2018-19 & 2019-20.

Dr. Shilpa Tripathi and Er. Deepak Shah were installed as

Chairperson and Honorary Secretary respectively of IE (I), Indore

Local Centre for the sessions 2018-19 and 2019-20.

Item No.6 : Opening address by the Newly installed Chairman.

The newly installed Chairperson Er. Shilpa Tripathi expressed her

sincere thanks to all committee members for showing confidence

and electing her as chairperson.

She gave a brief introduction about her career and responsibilities

held in the various activities related to engineering fraternity in and

around Indore.

She ensured that as Chairperson, she will try her best to uplift the IEI

(ILC) activities and infrastructure.

Item No.7 : To consider any other business that might be put forward with the

permission of chair.

1. Newly installed Honorary Secretary, Er. Deepak S. Shah

addressed the house elaborating his very long association with

IEI-ILC since the days when he was committee member of

Indore Centre which was a Sub-Centre then. He narrated in

brief about his passion for the upliftment of image of

Engineers in the Society. For the very same purpose he has

joined Engineers Action Group (EAG) formed under aegis of

CEAI, IAStructE, ACCE(I) & APGCE. Presently he is Convener for

Central India in EAG which is seriously working for enactment

of Engineer's Bill. He also informed house about recent

developments in the enactment of Professional Engineers Bill,

likely to be tabled in the Parliament soon.

2. Er. G. K. Sharma suggested that Indore Local Centre should

visit and support the places of disaster and natural calamities.

The case study can be then discussed at the centre to devise

appropriate methods to prevent such events in future.

3. Members showed their exasperation over the security deposit

of Rs.3,000/- for participating in IEI election for Committee

Members. They suggested that Head Quarter be

communicated about the same once again.

4. Members pointed out that due to security deposit only two

members participated in election and all the other seats

remained vacant.

5. Members also showed their deep concern that how IE(I), ILC

will work without committee members for coming two

sessions. Following proposals came to resolve this matter:-

(a) Dr. K. S. Verma suggested that the existing committee

should continue to work till the issue is resolved with

the intervention of Head Quarter.

(b) Er. Sunil Ajmera and Er. Praful Turakhia proposed that

the vacant positions of the Committee for sessions

2018-19 and 2019-20 be filled in accordance with bye-

laws through cooption / nomination.

(c) Er. S. B. Sarwate suggested that guidelines for filling

vacant position be sought from Head Quarter and till

that time the existing committee should continue.

(d) Er. Sunil Ajmera again suggested that permission for

conducting elections afresh may be sought.

(e) All the members welcomed Er. R.P.Gautam and Er.

R.K.Khatri for becoming members for IEI, Indore Local

Centre.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the members and Chair.

3.1 Our Centre has completed fifty successful years of its functioning. Our efforts have

generated interest among the Engineering fraternity for becoming members of IE(I) and

may persons have joined as new members, and the number of Corporate Members has

increased to 1443 as on 31.03.2019. However, we need to further strengthen our Local

Centre by increasing the no. of members and for this I seek support and co-operation from

all the existing members.

Our office is ready to provide all help to you in this regard. It has also been noted that

many of the senior corporate members who have settled in or around Indore have not

intimated this to HQ. If you come across such members kindly request them to

communicate their new address to HQ as well as to this Local Centre.

Again those who have changed their residences should update the same by mail or in

person and apply in prescribed format available on www.ieindia.org.

Technical Lecture on Leaving no one behind – Overview of Indian Scenario

5.0 Er. T.N. Kutumbale Corpus Fund:

In order to organize “Er. T.N. Kutumbale Memorial Lecture” annually, we solicit your kind

support and generous donation to strengthen the “Corpus Fund” created for this purpose.

The interest earned on the corpus fund is utilized to invite eminent persons to deliver

lecture on the technical topics of public interest, every year. We have already organized

twenty two such lectures successfully.

Therefore, on behalf of Committee of IE (I), Indore Local Centre I appeal to all the

members of Engineering fraternity to strengthen the corpus fund by their generous

donation.

6.0 The Committee of Indore Local Centre met 12 times during the year and discussed the day

to day affairs of the Centre and took decisions regarding various activates. There has been

a good attendance in these meetings which were always conducted in a very cordial and

healthy atmosphere.

7.0 Library of Local Centre:

i) The total number of books available in the library as on 31st March 2019 is 1580 in

number.

ii) The library is kept open for four hours on every working day between 02.00 P.M. to

8.00P.M. A good number of AMIE students and corporate members are benefited by

the library facility available to them free of cost.

iii) It is also for the information of the members that the Centre issues 02 books at a time

for 15 days to student members who have registered in the Library. For registration

purpose a student has to pay Rs. 1000/- towards caution money and Rs. 100/- towards

one year subscription. Up till now 98 students were enrolled as members in this

scheme.

8.0 Accounts:

The Statement of Income and Expenditure and the Balance Sheet of Indore Local Centre

for the financial year 2018-2019 duly Audited are appended to this report.

The overall picture is that the financial position of the Local Centre is satisfactory and we

are managing our affairs within our means.

9.0 AMIE Examination:

We have successfully conducted the AMIE Section A Diploma Stream Examination for

Summer 2018 and Winter 2018.

10.0 Visit of dignitaries:-

1. Er. Narendra Singh:

Shri Narendra Singh, Council Member and a very senior Civil Engineer from

Uttarakhand has visited Indore on the occasion of Technical lecture on “Pre-

Engineered Affordable Green Houses Using Steel” held on 24.01.2019 at Hotel

Country Inn , Indore. He has presided over the function of and gave the keynote

address to the packed hall. He detailed about how he came into this profession, his

tenure and works at Tehri Dam project, one of the most challenging project of

modern India.

He stressed on the use of Hindi as a medium of communication in engineering,

finding various advantages in the use of your own matrubhasha. Speaking in hindi,

he sat up an excellent rapport with the audience. His venture, “Abhiyanta Bandhu”

the magazine for engineers in Hindi, has entered the seventh year of publication.

This is the magazine which is published by Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata.

2. Er. K. K. Malhotra:

Er. K. K. Melhotra, Council Member, IEI and Ex-CMD, MECON, has visited Indore

Local Centre on 22.02.2019 and addressed the committee members of the our

centre. He has brief about the current happenings at IE (I) and future plans. His

address was very boosting for the committee members.

3. Dr. Jitendra Saxena :

Dr. Jitendra Saxena has visited Indore Local Centre on 06.03.2019. He has met with

some members of the committee.

11. Acknowledgements:

On behalf of the Committee of Indore Local Centre, I express my sincere thanks to eminent

personalities who have delivered lectures, have participated in the activities of this center

or who have helped us financially or otherwise for organizing different activities. I am

thankful to Director, SGSITS, Indore for providing various infrastructural facilities in the

Institute for organizing various activities.

I sincerely thank the Chairman and all the Members of the Committee of IE(I) Indore Local

Centre for their co-operation in discharging my duties as Honorary Secretary.

I take this opportunity to place on record the assistance I have received from our office
