BAR PROJECT@SMTS2016Organizer’s Project
Bars are becoming popular now in Japan. We invited chefs from Spain, the origin of the bar movement, and Hakodate, where community-based bars are increasing. The chefs cooked at “DAREDEMO CAFÉ-BAR” where visitors enjoyed the bar-style service. Cooking ingredients from Spain and Hakodate were introduced at the display area.
Supported by Economic and Commercial Office, Embassy of SpainCollaborated with General Foundation Promotion of Hokkaido Food Development and Distribution

Exhibition
Future Store “NOW” (Continuous Near Future Supermarket Research) brought together those centered on graduates of the Cornell University Retail Management Program Of Japan from among the official members of the New Supermarket Association of Japan and held periodic committee meetings as an opportunity to think about how supermarkets need to evolve in light of comments from consumers and restrictive conditions due to changes in society, etc.Based on opinions received from the participants in the committee meetings that were held three times prior to this event, keywords and policy plans were drawn out of the comments from consumers and restrictive conditions due to changes in society, etc. by the executive committee, and summarized onto panels and exhibited. We will hold periodic promotion council meetings to share the latest technologies and solution information by also including manufacturers and service solution developers in the future toward the next event. We will continue to work on the exhibition planned by the organizer of SMTS2017 as the milestone.

Besides your current customers, what business categories would you like to have business meeting with in your future participation of the show?
Multiple answers
■ We will consider in detail operational methods in advance, including personnel deployment and food/drink tasting.
■ We will prepare samples, food for tasting and pamphlets that can be distributed easily.
■ Booth decoration, display method, lighting and food tasting space layout, etc.
■ It is necessary to narrow down product items.■ There was an increase in eating out-related visitors, so we
would like to make proposals for business use products next time in cooperation with the business use department in our firm.
■ It was not possible to give sufficient information in advance to existing and prospective customers.
■ There was a lack of explanations relating to the delivery of lots and monetary amounts.
■ Follow up before and after the event to exhibitors not familiar with the exhibition
■ Support for overseas visitors
Please write about any improvement you would make in the future exhibit, such as your booth decoration and preparation in advance.
