hey friends,

Solution: A carpet dealer without a carpet under his coffee table? Strange, unless the reason is that it has been removed because it was stained with blood after the murder. The carpet dealer confessed.

babylon was the most famous city in Mesopotamia, near modern-day iraq. it was a big city, with very tall walls for protection and fields for farming around it. to enter the city, one had to walk along a stone road with big brick animals on the side, and pass through the ishtar Gate, a huge gate with dragons and bulls on it

Once inside the walls, the city itself had a lot of people. Everyone lived inside the city, including farmers, merchants, craftsmen and food vendors. The streets were narrow full of three storied houses. People threw all of their waste and trash onto the streets, so they were quite dirty as well. Often, the city nobles would cover the trash with a layer of clay, raising the level of the streets. People would then build steps down their doorways or maybe even cut a new door in the second level and build stairs down to the street.

KingsThere were many kings who ruled Babylon, but the most famous ruler was Hammurabi. Hammurabi quickly turned Babylon into the most powerful city in Mesopotamia. He made the surrounding walls even taller, and built beautiful temples in the city. To make peace, he made friendly relations with the powerful places of Mesopotamia, and made his city safe and protected it from attackers. He later captured many other cities and soon whole of Mesopotamia. He established the first Babylonian Empire, and was king of

“the four quarters of the world”

ReligionBabylonians believed in many Gods, each of whom ruled different things, such as earth, heaven, seas, mountains and rivers. Religion was a very important part of their lives and they made sacrifices of food and drink everyday and offered them to the Gods to make them happy. Each God had his own temple, where the priests would perform religious rituals. Babylonian religious ceremonies were very grand; priests, musicians,

magicians and astrologers all took part in the ceremonies.

CultureThe Babylonian people were very skilled engineers. They used a counting system, which was very similar to the decimal system we use today. School was an important cultural centre and education involved copying and memorising different languages. The people knew how to make fabric, cosmetics and perfumes and even performed medical surgeries!

We often see people in cartoons slip on banana peels, or they “go bananas” which means “you’re silly.” But it is important to know that bananas are also very healthy! Bananas are rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. Eating bananas help your heart and muscles to work well and your stomach feels better when it’s sick. It gives you energy and keeps you active throughout the day, and is also needed for blood, kidneys and bones.

Sukumar Ray was a Bengali poet and story writer, who wrote funny stories for children. He was born in October 30, 1887 in a Brahmo family in Calcutta, India. He was the son of children’s story writer Upendrakishore Ray. His son was the Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray and his grandson was Bengali filmmaker Sandip Ray.

He wrote many famous poems and short stories for children, which even 80 years after his death are still very popular. His works include a collection of poems “Aboltabol,” a novel “Hajabarala,” short story collection “Pagla Dashu” and play “Chalachittachanchari.” He even drew cartoon characters for his story, for example he drew the image of the cat in the story “Hajabarala.”

He died in September 10, 1923 at Kishoreganj district in Bangladesh of fever, for which there was no cure at the time. His son, Satyajit Ray later shot a documentary on his father in 1987. Nadia abdullah
