(Jan. 13, 2017) – Tyco Fire Protection Products, makers of the leading global brand ANSUL ® , announced the launch of its factory-installed fire suppression system program with Caterpillar, the world’s leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives. The program will provide factory-installed fire suppression systems on several models of Cat ® mining equipment, with the ultimate aim of enhancing vehicle integrity and longevity as well as expediting machine delivery. With the factory-installed fire suppression system program, select vehicles will be equipped to seamlessly incorporate ANSUL fire protection systems during the earliest stages of vehicle development and production, fully integrating the technology into vehicles and standardizing installation practices worldwide. The Caterpillar and Tyco teams worked collaboratively to design fire suppression systems for Caterpillar vehicles. Vehicles currently offering fire suppression ready and factory-installed fire suppression systems include the D10T 2 Dozer, 777G Off-Highway Truck and D11 Dozer, all installed with the ANSUL CHECKFIRE 210 Detection and Actuation and LVS Liquid Agent Fire Suppression System. Additional releases are scheduled in the coming year. “At Tyco Fire Protection Products, we pride ourselves on constantly challenging the status quo to engineer new technologies and products, with the goal of improving system durability and reliability. This program is a prime example of a new way of thinking to address evolving customer needs,” said Mark Neumann, Global Product Director, Pre-Engineered Systems, Tyco Fire Protection Products. “Under this initiative, we’re proud to be Caterpillar’s preferred partner for fire protection.” The factory-installed fire suppression system program resulted from Caterpillar Voice of Customer surveys that revealed end users’ need to address after-market design and installation practices. Caterpillar conducted a worldwide evaluation of vehicle system manufacturers and their fire suppression technologies in order to standardize these systems for their vehicles. From this evaluation, Tyco Fire Protection Products and its ANSUL brand fire protection systems were chosen due to the global network of Authorized ANSUL Distributors, innovative fire protection technologies, and world-class global account support and technical expertise. Caterpillar introduced its vehicles with factory-installed fire suppression systems at MINExpo International 2016 in Las Vegas Sept. 26-28.
