• Texture is defined as the tactile quality of the surface of an object--how it feels if touched
• The material used to make objects gives the surface a certain texture, such as softness or roughness.

Tactile and Visual Textures
Tactile/actual texture
•A real texture is one you can actually feel with your hand, such as a piece of sandpaper, a wet glass, or animal fur.
•It also can be created by an artist by doing a collage.
Visual /Implied texture
• It is the result from painting or drawing as the real texture.
• Visual texture is an illusionof texture created by an artist.
