This is the oldest Italian

yacht building yard and the only one in the European and American scene to have worked continuously for more than a century and a half, even if in the hands of six different owners. Today the yard can count on solid management, on more than solid financial assets – an indispen-sable ingredient in what is the most unstable and vague moment ever in the nautical market – and one which has taken a wise choice in delegating its continuity and perpetuate the brand’s image in terms of style and typology – in two words its Brand identity – to Francesco Paszkowski who’s been successfully defining and consolidating it also in terms of quality for nearly two decades. “I’ve been lucky enough to have started to work with the Varazze structure, which is Baglietto’s heart and soul – says Paszkowski – and to have met people that have taught me a great deal. They’ve helped me to understand the differences between drawing up a project for a yacht and making it happen which depends mainly on the material deployed in building it. As for me I think I’ve introduced new elements but I certainly feel part of the cultural heritage of this Brand and feel part of the Baglietto family, a sense of belonging which has become part of me and which no one can deprive me of”. Beniamino Gavio is fully aware that winning designers are not to be substituted and that continuity of the Brand’s identity – the seagull – could greatly contribute in perpetuating the brand along its route beyond 160 years and has practically nominated him art director of the yard and person in charge of the development of all produc-tion lines from the second half of the first decade of the third Millenium. Francesco has amply demonstrated to know how to perpetrate his projects through time and how to evolve his style.

lacquered glossy bulkheads or the deployment of pure colours such as white or black. But also thanks to the scent released from perfume and essences specially created by Dr. Vranjes which reveal an olfactory experience aimed to intensify the yacht’s naturalistic appeal. We’re talking about a sensorial experience which not only involves a sense of smell and sight but one which is also tactile thanks to a special treatment applied to the main oak furniture, upholstery and lining veneers. Tangible, concrete sensations which can also be found in the wood flooring which evoke contact with natural elements with nature as do the panels in the ceiling which are enriched by a veneer which is similar to fabric complete the picture. The end result is one of detailed sophistication, which is a recurring theme throughout the yacht. This is how Francesco Paszkowski launches and celebrates the new season for this displacing Baglietto for the coming years, while maintaining an unmistakable family feeling which has been perpetuated through time, recent past and present. The stern cockpit with a built in sofa welcomes guests on the main deck by the entrance before exiting the “open” living room which is convivially inviting. To starboard as one enters the cockpit there’s direct access to the “beach club” which is made up of a 25 square metre surface area at the water’s edge which comprises a small adequately equipped gymnasium which includes two Recline Personal with Unity interface, wellness ball, and wellness rack supplied by Technogym. Minotti sofas and armchairs fill the living room situat-ed along the main deck with a wet bar. The area dedicated to the living room is ample and further enhanced by mirror lined bulkheads and ceilings that amplify light and space. A see through cut glass bulkhead separates the living room from the main lobby, conveying a sense of continuity and of a still larger single area, while large window panelling fill it with plenty of natural light. The guests’ lobby further forward along the main deck sports a lateral entrance as well where a comfortable spiral staircase in steel and leather – important elements throughout the yacht- connects the three decks. Further forward to starboard the owner’s full beam suite which is made up of a study with dressing table and a large travertine marble bathroom revealing a full size bathtub placed at centre and a separate shower unit. All the furniture, headboard and bedside tables are all tailor made and

He has fine tuned a series of styling features for the entire planing line as well as for the displacing one which will be presented in the course of this 160th which defines the shapes of superyachts to come. This displacing 46 metre superyacht, is the first of the new series and summarizes Pasz-kowski’s experience in this specific segment which began with the elegant Blue Scorpion in 2006 and with sister ship Gitana the following year in 2007 followed by Baraka in 2009. The hull drawn up to the intermediate size of 46 metres, sports a semi wide body configuration to offer owners a huge full beam suite in the bow, thereby not adding weight to the area aft of amidships. Several stylistic elements which are typical of Paszkowski’s own style, like the rounded lowering of the upper deck amidships, the structural supportive elements set at a given angle of depression which taper off to form a continuous flowing line towards the bow, with sequential hard top coverings of each deck which are in harmony with the slope aft toward the stern, remain and contribute in conveying a sense of continuity. The hard top designs are new as are also the angle at which the turret is set and the glass window panels situated in the helm controls station on the bridge which are reversed producing a more powerful appearance and a certain professional, austere, frill free feeling which dialogues almost irreverently with the elegant and graceful shape of the lateral window panels with which it seems to harmonize well. Paszkowski has designed the interiors of this superyacht, who, following the brilliant results obtained exactly eleven years ago with the 43 metre Blue Scorpion, the forerunner, is increasingly also involved in the layout of the interiors and of all interior styling. Two years ago Margherita Casprini architect joined the studio, to refine, thanks to her culture and sophisticated taste Francesco’s instinctive penchant for minimalism. The interior layout foresees night quarters for up to eight guests along the lower deck with two VIP suites, and two cabins with twin single beds. The owner’s quarters are situated on the main deck while the dining area is situated on the upper deck aft of the wheelhouse and helm controls station where guests may dine inside or “al fresco” outside.Minimalism prevails in terms of decor flanked by wild nature themes: where a happy blending of different shades and warm materials such as block wood or leather, separated by cool details like

specially designed as free standing units. The lower deck with a classic conventional layout is entirely dedicated to visiting guests and comprises two VIP cabins and two twins with single beds in which a third bed can be added. A bar cabinet is installed half way along the passage for guests perusal. Each area conveys a comfortable soft atmosphere thanks to styling, colour schemes and the choice of warm shades enhanced by “hand stitched” leather lining and natural wood essences interrupted by a lead gray plaited aluminium bulkhead. Bed spreads and beds in petrol blues, orange and ocre yellows decorated with Pratesi’s latest luxury bedding collection add a further touch of refined elegance. Pratesi is a renowned Italian manufacturer of luxury bedding and linen, whose latest collection of tailored cuts, styling and aesthetically pure minimal designs are well suited to this superyacht’s décor.Further forward the bow area of this same deck houses the crew’s quarters which comprise a crew mess room and four cabins, with a separate passageway on the portside which also accesses the technical areas, galley and pantry without disturbing any of the guests. The galley which opens onto the main deck is large and bright with natural light thanks to enormous window panels facing the exterior passage way. A larger nearby storeroom contains cold storage fridges, for long crossings and wine cellar. The dining area situated on the upper deck level can be accessed from the main lobby. A large round crystal table with a seating capacity of twelve is situated inside whereas another table is installed outside at centre for “al fresco” dinners and is flanked by a wet bar cabinet and convivial lounge area. A butler’s pantry is connected to the galley below via a dumbwaiter. Further forward

along the same deck there’s the helm controls station equipped with an I-Bridge® integrated system supplied by Team Italia which has been specially customised. The console contains five displays, three touch screen positions and two multifunction joysticks. The captain’s cabin and RT room are naturally situated next to the wheelhouse. Entertainment is ensured by an innovative Videoworks system “my-Olos by Videoworks” which integrates all audio, video and domotics. Audio and video functions are controlled via mini iPad thanks to the simple and intuitive integrated system while A/C, lighting and curtains are run through reliable Lutron systems. The sun deck dedicates all of its 90 square metres to tan fans, open air activities with sun beds, sofas astern and a dining spot situated below the hardtop which is equipped with a bar corner, barbecue, grill and fridge and dumbwaiter which goes down to the galley. A pair of 3512B Caterpillar engines develop 2,910 KW which can push this 46 metre to a top speed of 17 knots. At a cruising speed of 12 knots it can cover approximately 4,500 nautical miles. This superyacht falls within the 500GT limit and has top class ABS certification and complies to MCA norms.
