Texas Test Administrator Online Training – Module 3 Text Narrative SCRIPT Ms. Blake has been assigned to administer the STAAR Algebra I assessment and is nervous about giving the test today.

SCRIPT As the last of the examinees arrive at her classroom, Ms. Blake starts feeling even more uneasy because she’s having difficulty controlling the students.

SCRIPT She finishes taking roll and the students begin to settle down.

SCRIPT Testing proceeds smoothly with no further incident. Ms. Blake collects the students’ testing materials as they finish.

SCRIPT Near the end of the testing time period, Ms. Blake reminds the three students still testing that they have 15 minutes remaining to complete the test.

SCRIPT One of the students, Steve, completes his test and raises his hand for Ms. Blake to collect his materials.

SCRIPT As she is collecting Steve’s answer document and verifying that he has properly recorded his responses, the last two remaining examinees raise their hands to indicate that they are also finished.

SCRIPT Ms. Blake acknowledges the two students and begins to rush the process of collecting the remaining tests.

SCRIPT In her haste, Ms. Blake focuses solely on collecting materials and turns her back on Steve. As he leaves the room, he glances back to see that she is occupied with another student and quickly grabs one of the test booklets from the bin on her desk and slips it inside his jacket.

SCRIPT Ms. Blake didn’t count her booklets before checking them in, and the campus coordinator simply placed the bin in locked storage. The event went unnoticed until the test booklets were counted at the end of the week. By then it was determined that Steve had compromised the confidentiality of the test and had shared the information with other students.
