The goal was to perform a real-life proof of concept and to demonstrate the new improved methods of winding resistance measurements on a delta secondary winding connection as well as to execute a core demagnetization in a due course. The new DV Power device TWA30D was used. The test objects included large size power transformers of up to and including the 1100 MVA unit. The new method required about 10 minutes for a complete three phase measurement. It can be compared to usually required almost 30 minutes per each phase using the clasical methods available on the market. The new TWA30D device demonstrated not only a faster procedure but an impressive accuracy as well. Large single phase 400kV autotransformers of the Spanish Transmission System Operator REE needed an external tertiary connection verification, and the TRT63 was engaged in this project. For this occasion special 30m cables were prepared due to the physical distance of single phase units. The turns ratio tests were carried out successfully. Our Automatic Vector Group test method detected the connection YNd1 while the tertiary windings were supposed to be connected YNd11. The phase angle verification, showed 30 degrees instead of 330. After the reconnection, the subsequent verification was performed. The TRT63 detected YNd11, which was a confirmation the tertiary windings have been successfully connected. Testing 1100 MVA Transformer SMIT transformer service facilities Nijmegen, Netherlands

In December the DV Power engineers paid a visit to the SMIT transformer service facilities in Nijmegen, Netherlands.

New DV Power Product Catalog

Synergy that works

The German OLTC manufacturer Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen is offering a new service ”TAPSCAN DRM” for on-load-tap-changer condition assessment using a dynamic resistance measurement method.

MR selected the DV Power instruments for this purpose. The TAPSCAN DRM performs a quick assessment of the switching sequence of the tap-changer in just 30 minutes. More details can be fond in the MR brochure.

Product Catalog2013The new 2013 catalog is more extensive than before, with

instrument series overviews and technical specifications. The catalog provides in-depth information on the DV Power’s circuit breaker, transformer, motor test equipment, software tools and accessories.

The catalog is an easy-to-use reference source designed to familiarize new users with the DV Power products, but at the same time be of use to the existing customers.

For a copy of the catalog visit our webpage.

Euro TechCon Glasgow, Scotland The power industry experts in the United Kingdom had an opportunity to learn more about the DV Power products during the Euro TechCon conference held in Glasgow, November 26-28. The products were presented in a cooperation with TJH2b, the DV Power’s distributor for the UK. On November 29th, a special training seminar was held for the utility users. During this seminar, DV Power experts had presented the new on-load tap changer dynamic resistance measurement method.

DV Power Transformer Testing Seminar Stockholm, Sweden The first seminar about transformer testing with the TWA30D and TRT63 series of instruments was held in Stockholm Scandic Foresta hotel on November 19-20. The seminar was an excellent opportunity for the DV Power distributors and users to gain a practical experience in transformer testing with the new TWA30D – TRT63 test system. DV Power experts had provided basic information on testing procedures and efficient results analysis. The interest in this seminar was very high. The participants had come from all over the world, from Mexico to Australia and from South Africa to South Korea. During the two-day seminar, the numerous advantages of the TWA – TRT system were demonstrated. The demonstrated features had included: • Automatic transformer vector group detection;• Simultaneous three-phase transformer turns ratio testing;• Excitation current measurement;• Phase displacement primary/secondary detection;• Static resistance measurement in all tap positions;• Tap changer dynamic resistance measurement;• Rapid and automatic transformer core demagnetization. All of the tests mentioned above were performed with a one-time cable setup to the test transformer.

Visiting Thailand

DV Power engineers paid several visits to important customers in Thailand. The company is now strongly supported by the local company Measure Station Co. (Mr. Pinit Yoksongsang).

Our products were presented to the ABB transformer manufacturer at the factories in Bangkok and PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority).

The main goal of the visit was training of the EGAT (Electricity and Generation Authority of Thailand) engineers and technicians in using CAT126 and TRT33A. The newly launched DV Power instrument CAT126 passed all the tests with great success. This was also a great opportunity for the EGAT maintenance engineers to get familiar with the other products from the DV Power portfolio. As a result of this presentation at the EGAT, a new visit is set for the middle of January in order to demonstrate the TWA30D and SAT40A.
