Teleknow is the name of the teletext service provided by ITV on Channel Three

when you press the TEXT button on your remote control.

Teleknow has a unique school wide, district wide, plus the national and regional

service. On a typical day, Teleknow contains:

30,000 frames of a wide array of information held at 22 cable transmitters in

the school, and for outside broadcasts are redirected,

about 10,000 updates

worked on by staff from the one of the finest journalism teams in the country.

And, one more great thing, is that it’s free!

The Teleknow service brings to your doorsteps the most comprehensive

newsgathering operation in the Philippines.

Started in 1981, Teleknow has already brought to 35 million audiences the news,

sport, features and television/radio listings that has typically the job of a

newspaper or a TV guide magazine.

Teleknow is using every aspect of the World System Teletext – including the

reveal button. Pressing the ? button on your remote reveals a hidden piece of

text in the page.

If you are using FASTEXT, then life will be easier for you. Four words will

appear on the screen, so if you press red and Headlines is red, the page will

appear w/o keying the page.

Each television company that is part of the ITV television network have a

regional teletext service that starts at page 300. The regional television

station does all the work- from filling the pages, to broadcasting it through

their cables. Teleknow and the regional text service only share the same design,

and header.

Each page of information is copyrighted by ITV plc. News articles can be

reprinted by asking permission from the Journalism Office in Del Pilar Building

across the ITV Television Center.

Teleknow doesn’t use any other frequency than Ch3 and it’s C4 service, aside from

EMC 1 and 2.

REMEMBER If it’s Teleknow, it should have the

Teleknow marker on top of the screen.
