How I improve my test-taking techniques
By Ellie W
Where to Start?
Before I begin the test, I look at the cover. On the cover it usually tells you what sections there are in the test and how much each are worth. I like to:
- Start with the section with the most marks, so I can achieve bigger marks then working on lower mark sections.
- Then go down in decreasing order, of how much each section is worth.
- I also like to plan my time. I plan my time by giving more time for the sections that are worth more marks.
During the test
If I get stuck on a question I either:
- Move on, and come back to it later. - Take a deep breath and try it again.
If I get stuck on question I like to come back to it later as there are usually easier questions or ones I can do, allowing me to achieve better marks then just staying on the one I can’t do.
Reading over my work
If I am lucky enough to have finished my test and have time to spare, I:
- Read over my work and make sure I haven’t made any mistakes
- I also come back to the questions that I have missed or couldn’t do and try and work them out again
