Osato Adebiyi is a LEED Green Associate and a design professional in architecture and urban planning with broad experience in residential, as-builts, and mixed-use, projects, as well as site planning in the architecture / engineering / construction industry(A/E/C). She also has direct experience teaching as a substitute teacher with ages 3 – 23 years, in various subjects from K-12, algebra, architectural design, and physics. This conceptual project was built in Revit computer program, enabled me, as the designer, to work remotely with the client. The project sits on a hillside over-looking the ocean, in the northern most island of Hawaii, known as the Kauaii The Garden Island. The three-story commercial facil-ity is mirroers on either side of an arched glass atrium, complete
with ten private officess, an open workspace for 30 work stations, a kitchen, work room and an out-door pool. This brick and mortar building represents perminance that complements the garden island which surrounds it.

This conceptual project was built in Revit, a BIM software program. The backdrop--later rendered in Adobe Photoshop-- shows a picturesque home, nestled amongst the trees in Torrance, Ca. Complete with ocean views, this inhabitance has an open floor plan, high ceilings, three-bedrooms, three-bathrooms
a kitchen and dining that’s perfect for entertaining. This modern two-story residence offers peace and tranquility amidst the busy metropolis of Los Angeles.

Originally built in 2009, using a Building Information Modeling (BIM) computer program called Revit 2009, I wanted to pay tribute to my homeland, the country Nige-ria. This home in Victoria Island, a beach community in Lagos, Nige-ria, has an open floor plan with two bedrooms and a bath. Embedded in a sloping site, this property pro-vides immaculate views, a double height living space, and plenty of daylight.

I had the pleasure of working on a number of mixed-use and adaptive re-use projects in Downtown Los Angeles, while working at Van Tilburg, Banvard & Soderbergh, AIA (VTBS). This 22-story commercial high-rise, known as Chase Plaza—originally built in
1986—towers over the southwest corner of Grand Avenue and 8th Street. The year 2006 marked its transformation from exclusively offices into 132 luxury condomini-ums on the top eleven floors, com-plete with a retail level and fitness center.

The existing subterranean parking level and the first ten floors of commercial office space were in full operation during the construction of the upper floors; the ground floor lobby underwent a major remodel. A motor court was created on the west side of the building to serve as the private residential entrance. An organic motif was etched into the pavement and into the carpet pattern of the lobby, which gave
the impression of merging indoor and outdoor spaces together. I assisted the project architect with production and with the material board (below) constructed in CAD and Photoshop. This tenant improvement project was developed by Opus Corpora-tion, a developer headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota. One of its five regional operating compa-nies, OPUS West, based in Irvine, California, served as the landlord throughout the entire process of this project. This new, multimillion dollar project consisted of three compo-nents: retail, civic and residential. The client's Sanrio boutique
required a tenant improvement within the commercial component. Located in Building #3 (the north-east quadrant of the site), the scope of work involved providing retail space, office space, an attic space, an ADA compliant restroom, as well as, mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment. Engineering+Design, through the contrac-tor, Jen’s Construc-tion.While working with the principal engineer, Loyd W. Martin, I served as job captain through-out the initial permit process. I produced 75% of the shop drawings, using Archi-CAD, a Build-ing Information Mod-eling (BIM) computer program. In addition to work-ing with a developer in the midwest, we also worked with an out-of-state electrical
engineer. This only added to the complex-ity of coordinating with different consul-tants in different time zones; nevertheless, the boutique opened in 2008, along with the other retail facili-ties.

This single family detached (SFD) residential project was designed for the development company, Fieldstone Communities, Inc., in Corona, Ca. Osato Adebiyi, then known as Osato Osaseri, was the intern architect who worked exten-sively on this project, under the guidance of project manager, Gina Paola. Most notably, this was the first built project that Osato worked on from schematic design phase through construction.
The client desired variations to the floor plan, such as additional rooms or a den. This particular project came in one- to two-story models and in three styles: Spanish Colonial, Tuscan, and Craftsman. The number of rooms lent itself from a one-story, three bedrooms home to a two-story, six bedrooms home. BSB Design made a name for itself as a service-oriented design firm, able to produce construction documents in as little as three weeks to three months.

Amongst the four possible blighted areas along the Vermont corridor, my team chose the intersection at Vermont Avenue and Manchester Avenue—the neighboring community of my childhood. The intent of this design studio was to first identify and understand the structural relationships between boulevards and adjacent neighborhood communities; then secondly, imagine and design new ways of connecting them. The focus was on configuring sequential public/pri-vate open spaces in urban L.A. in order to strengthen rather than destroy the residential fabric behind the bou-levards. My team of four designers chose a commercial library, an outdoor garden, solar powered bus shelters, diagonal crosswalks and welcoming street scape to accommodate a boulevard that boasts over a million daily commuters. The library’s undulating walls create private niches for library readers; yet combined with vertical brisolies, it provides shade in the hot summer months along the southwestern facade, while permitting sunlight during the winter months.
