    EPE 6113 HISTORY OF HIGHER EDUCATION

    SEMESTER DEC 2011 MAC 2012

    TEST ONE

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    This test constitutes 30% of the course grade. The main objective of test one is to evaluate

    students understanding of the literature related to higher education and the history of higher education in

    Malaysia. There are five questions and students are asked to attempt any three.

    Answers for each question requires between four to five pages of A4 size paper. All answers

    must be done efficiently and correctly with good formatting based on the Harvard system of writing

    convention.

    Submit your assignment on or before January 27, 2012. Assignment received after the specified

    date will not be graded.

    1. Explain the difference in meaning between teaching and educating. Deliberate your explanations

    with good and clear examples to enhance understanding on the facts presented to readers.

    Terangkan perbezaan makna antara mengajar dan mendidik. Perjelaskan penerangan anda

    dengan contoh-contoh yang baik dan tepat untuk memudahkan pemahaman pembaca pada fakta-

    fakta yang disampaikan.

    2. Higher education in this society contains both long term and short term objectives. How far do

    you agree with this opinion.

    Pendidikan tinggi dalam masyarakat ini mengandungi objektif jangka panjang dan jangka pendek.

    Sejauh mana anda bersetuju dengan pendapat ini.

    3. Vision 2020 introduced about a decade ago gives mixed perception to the people. State clearly

    your perception on this vision.

    Wawasan 2020 yang diperkenalkan kira-kira satu dekad yang silam memberikan persepsi yang

    berbeza kepada orang ramai. Nyatakan persepsi anda terhadap wawasan ini.

    4. Higher education could be perceived as both functional and dysfunctional in value. To which view

    would you subscribe more.

    Pendidikan tinggi boleh dilihat dari sudut positif dan negatif. Sudut manakah arahnya tanggapan

    anda terhadap pendidikan tinggi ini.

    5. Qualitative research especially, could be administered using knowledge, experience and

    discipline in history.Explain clearly all sources of information used in historically research.

    Penyelidikan kualitatif umumnya boleh dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan pengetahuan,

    pengalaman dan ilmu sejarah.

    Nyatakan dengan jelas sumber- sumber masa lampau yang boleh digunakan untuk

    mengendalikan penyelidikan sejarah.
