The Southern Chapter voted in new version of the Chapter Bylaws at the October 21, 2017, meeting. The following is the new Article IV section concerning dues. This was the section with the major changes.

ARTICLE IV

DUES

Section 1.

STATE DUES: The annual dues of the state level organization of the TDC are one dollar

($1.00) to be collected and sent for each member in one check to the state treasurer no later

than April 1 of each year. State Newsletter fees for each member are $1.75 (printing and

mailing), which will be sent at the same time as dues. Total is $2.75 per member to State.

Section 2.

CHAPTER DUES: Local chapter dues shall be $20.00 for each member. Of this, $2.75 will

be sent to State. The remaining $17.25 stays at the local level for dues (local general fund).

Billing notices and return receipts from the treasurer.

Section 3.

The total amount per member is $20.00 and must be paid to the treasurer by April 1st of each

year. Upon non-payment of dues for two (2) years, that member will be dropped from the

TDC roster. To be reinstated, member must pay current year’s dues, plus a $10.00 re-

instatement fee.

Henry Moore Teller

Henry Moore Teller (1830-1914) was born in Granger, New York to John and Charlotte Moore Teller in 1830. Teller worked as a teacher to earn money to put himself through law school. He moved to Illinois and practiced law for three years. He helped establish the Republican Party in Illinois and attended the Republican Conven-tion of 1860 that nominated Abraham Lincoln for the Republican Party presidential candidate. Teller moved to Central City, Colorado in 1861. He married Harriet Bruce and had a daughter (Emma) and two sons. Teller served as one of the first U.S. Senators from Colorado. He served from 1876 to 1882, when he was appointed the U.S. Secretary of the Interior under President Chester Arthur. He served as Secretary of the Interior until 1885, when he returned to being Colorado Senator. Teller served as U,S, Senator for Colorado until 1909. He switched parties to the Silver Republicans then to the Democrats during his tenure in office. Teller was a contro-versial senator since he supported use of sil-ver to back U.S. currency and for his dealings with the Ute Indians. Teller died in Denver in 1914. Teller County was named for Henry Moore Teller.

His daughter Emma Teller Tyler attended Wellesley College before marrying Dr. George Tyler in Washington D.C. The Tyler's made their home in Denver Colorado. Emma was an early member of the Territorial Daughters of Colorado. Dr. Tyler was instrumental in im-proving the Department of Health for the State of Colorado.
