The seven steps to get started in accomplishing your goals
1. Write five to ten of the personal goals on a paper. Use the present tense and be personal. ”I…”
2. Set priorities. Choose the one that would have the biggest impact.
3. Make a deadline and organise a plan, make it detailed. Draw up a roadmap listing all the obstacles you will have to overcome, use a detailed schedule with deadlines.
4. Practise mind storming: First state your goal:“ How can I achieve this…by …?” Then write 20 ideas on paper.
5. Find as many reasons as possible, why it is a good idea to achieve your goal. The more reasons you find the more motivated you’ll be. The more you can find people who benefit of it, the more you can expect support.
6. Make a list of 7 steps you could take right away to achieve this goal.
7. Take the first step. Immediately. Move fast. And keep yourself going until you achieve your target.
Buy a separate calendar or use internet project management tools and put your monthly weekly and daily tasks in that. Your goals will automatically activate your mind ,as long as you keep yourself going, therefore…start right away and do no stop.

Discipline: How do I get there?
in order to accomplish your goals you need a plan. A roadmap. Time schedule is your key tool to keep you in control in achieving your goals, it consists of written detailed targets and plan … on paper. Make clear, detailed, realistic targets and steps towards them that you can control. Learn to use project management tools, time schedules, excel charts etc.
Identify the obstacles between you and your goals. Whenever there are targets there are obstacles. Some 80 % of them can be affected by you.
• Do not give up• Do not blame circumstances or others for your setbacks• There is always actions that you can rectify things or move forward on your
own
Mind your mood and energy level. Choose activities that give you energy. Get down and dirty. Be active. Start immediately. Stay in motion so you don’t need to start again. You need more energy to restart than to continue.
Be ready to work hard. To accomplish something that you have never attained before, you must be ready to do things that you have never done. Change your routines, adapt better practices and stick to them.

Six reminders for life’s hectic momentsClarify and highlight your goal
Be sure you know what is important for you and why it is important just now. What do you hope to achieve? Write it down or make a picture of it. Keep it with you always. A clear target helps you in your daily efforts.
Manage your time, get your life under control
Respect your work or project and reserve enough time for it. Keep a weekly, monthly and annual plan for all your important goals. Meet all of your calendar obligations. Accept full responsibility. You are in charge.
Remember to take breaks and rest
Reserve enough time for rest and free time, do something that energises you. Do not work weekends or late into the night. Think in advance about how you’ll motivate yourself the next time are tired.
Power hour
Beginning a new task is sometimes difficult. If so, take a power hour. Turn off your phone and put the alarm clock on. Use an entire hour to really concentrate on the task at hand. You are likely to be surprised with the result.
Maintain a supportive network
Find people that will assist you with your tasks. Ask for advice and talk with your spouse, your parents, your boss, etc.
Don’t let opportunities slip away
When opportunity strikes, allow yourself to skip a few meetings or delegate some tasks. Not everything is essential. Maybe some tasks can wait. You make the decisions. Do not miss the challenge!

Six reminders for a smart project managerPlan, be proactive and prepared.
Planning is self-evident for any project manager. Being proactive and prepared means that you can avoid many pitfalls in your project. "The clever man finds his way out of traps that the wise man never falls into” . “Fail to plan is plan to fail.”
Write reports and communicate
Issues that are not documented are difficult to communicate. Successful project management is founded on skilled communications.
Monitor and address problems immediately when they emerge
Recognize deviations from the plan at their origin. Deviations tend to grow and they do not go away accidentally. Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.
Be honest to yourself and the project director
Get to know the project director, he has time for you. Together with the director, you can solve any problem.
Learn to say no
The project manager has to be able to refuse to take on tasks that do not belong to the project. If they are important, they may be a starting point for the next project.
Observe the workload of your team
No one can be efficient around the clock. Listen to your team and assess your resource needs continuously. Make priorities, learn to handle the pressure of undone tasks.
