    European Union

    Cross-border cooperation is vital for stability, growth and development

    in Europe. Current obstacles to East-West cooperation, stretching

    geographically from the Barents Sea in the North to the Black Sea in

    the South, hinder human contacts, curb economic development,restrain political relations, and create new dividing lines.

    Having identified key challenges in current cross-border cooperation in

    Europe, among which are visa regulations; inefficient border crossing

    procedures; complicated and conflicting legislation; lack of accurate

    information and data; corruption; insufficient border crossing

    infrastructure; lack of political engagement and support; trade

    restrictions and excessive bureaucracy, there is the need to;

    Develop coordination information mechanisms which include

    sophisticated monitoring and analysis tools;

    Encourage entrepreneurship, especially the development of

    SMEs, tourism, culture and cross-border trade;

    Improve joint management of natural resources;

    Support links between urban and rural areas;

    Improve access to transport and communication networks;

    Develop joint use of infrastructure;

    Create administrative, employmentandequal opportunities work.

    Ternopil, being one of the cities located close to the border and

    Ukraine at large will benefit more from Cross border cooperation with

    other European Countries be it in infrastructure, to markets and

    services (linking universities to business to clients) or to cultural or

    linguistic benefits.

    Other advantages of Cross-Border Cooperation are to bridge the lack

    of information on ones neighbours, their communities, mentality and

    culture. They also facilitate the identification of development problems

    in partner regions, thus eliminating prejudice and fears.

    Furthermore, through Cross-Border cooperation, communication and

    mutual awareness extend to an ever broader circle of population.

    That is why this session is devoted to this theme, which is of greatsignificant to Ukraine and Europe as a whole.

    EVENTSA. Teambuilding

    During Team-Building, all the participants getto know each other better through certain

    methodology of interactive games. The main idea behind team-building is to create a team of people who could then be able to reachconsensus on issues that are being discussed, feel comfortable in

    diverse group settings during the committee work. All delegates aredivided into committees headed by the Chairperson whose function isto control working process and provide delegates with any help.Teambuilding includes a wide range of indoors and outdoors activities(communication, problem-solving, decision-making, trusting and otherengrossing exercises) designed for getting to know each other,improving communication skills, teaching the team self-regulationstrategies, ensure the ability to work closely together as a team.

    B. Committee Work

    Committee work is the majorpart of all EYP sessions. Itbegins after the team buildingwhen delegates get together todiscuss key issues of theircommittee topics. The objectivepoint of such work is resolution

    writing after a fruitful andenergetic discussion. Eachdelegate takes an active part inthe committee work putting all

    his enthusiasm, energy, knowledge and aspiration into theimplementation of all conceived plans. The resolutions adopted by allmembers of the team and represent a formal expression of the officialopinion or will of the delegates. This procedure is impossible withoutan experienced Chairperson, who coordinates and supports delegatesactions, ensures that everyone can be involved in decision-making

    process.

    C. General Assembly

    9/10

    General Assembly is a well-organized official gathering

    for sharing ideas anddiscussing all the resolutionsproduced during the session.Its a sum up event whichreunites all the participantsof the EYP-session tosummarize the results of thework done during thecommittee work. The GAmeets under its President

    and members of the board who are responsible for conducting themeeting under the statute. Each committee presents and defends itsresolution during the Open Debates. To make it more interesting andlively delegates should be very active andenergetic but polite, tolerant and respectfultowards the proposing committee. At the endof each debate, each delegate must maketheir own personal voting decision based onpersonal views on the content of theresolution and the GA debate. Resolutions

    which have successfully passed afterwardspresented to the European Parliament andother national and international governingbodies without fail. What is important thatEYP enables young Europeans directly express their opinions withoutpaying attention on political considerations by learning how to takedemocratic decisions.
