Oceans Terms & Conditions4

1 Oceans membership 1.1 Membership of Oceans is granted free of charge after your first cruise with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines (FOCL) on which you earn points as detailed below in section 2 Points.1.2 You will qualify for Oceans membership for cruises taken after you are 18 years of age: no previous cruises are eligible.

2 Points 2.1 As a member of Oceans you will earn one Cruise Point for every night you spend on board an FOCL cruise, subject to any exclusions below in 2.4. 2.2 Cruise Points accrue at the end of the cruise on which they are earned and will be added to your points total following the end of that cruise. 2.3 Cruise Points are personal to you and cannot be transferred to any other person. They have no redeemable cash value and are only used to determine your eligibility for membership benefits.2.4 You will not earn points for: • Nights spent travelling or in a hotel, for example as

part of a fly-cruise or land stay • Nights spent on board an FOCL ship that has been

chartered to another tour operator• Nights spent on board as a result of a

delayed cruise • Any cruise booked as a concession, supernumerary

or prize winner • Cruises that departed prior to 1st January 2000 • A cancelled cruise booking, irrespective of the

cancellation charges applied

• Unused nights in your room (even if you have paid for them)

• Additional nights accrued by the crossing of the International Date Line

• Cruises taken at the age of 17 or under• In any other circumstances that FOCL may

specify at any time

3 Lapsing of membership3.1 Your membership will be deemed to have lapsed and your points become void if you do not cruise for a period of five years or more. In order for your points and membership to remain valid there can be no longer than five years between the end of one cruise and the end of the next. If this time limit is exceeded all points will become void – irrespective of the date a cruise booking was confirmed. 3.2 Once your membership has lapsed, you will not be able to claim any benefits and your Cruise Points will revert to zero. Any previous Cruise Points will not be counted in the future if your membership recommences. 3.3 Membership of Oceans will recommence after completion of your next FOCL cruise.

4 DiscountsThese limitations apply to all the Oceans Discounts listed in section 4• Oceans Discounts are only available to Oceans

members who have a valid membership at the time of the transaction and will not be applied retrospectively if a person becomes an Oceans member afterwards

• Oceans discount will be calculated at the relevant level of membership at the time of the transaction and a higher level will not be applied retrospectively if a member is subsequently upgraded

• No Oceans Discounts are available on any cruise booked on an Anchor Fare or as a concession, a supernumerary or prize winner

• Oceans Discounts may not be combined with some tour operators’ offers; please check with the tour operator or travel agent before booking

4.1 Cruise Discount 4.1.1 The deadline for obtaining Cruise Discount is by calendar month, i.e. Gold members, wanting to obtain their discount for a cruise on 20th September, must book by 20th March. 4.1.2 Cruise Discount is only applicable to the cruise fare of Oceans members. Non-members, including children, will not receive Cruise Discount on their fare portion of the booking, even if travelling with Oceans members. 4.1.3 Cruise Discount is only applicable to the cruise fare and will not be applied to APD, port or local taxes, overland tours, pre or post cruise holiday extensions or any other additional holiday costs.4.1.4 Cruise Discounts may be combined with other special offers and discounts, but only at the discretion of FOCL. Please check before booking.4.1.5 If a Cruise Discount is combined with another discount, the levels will be consecutive, with the Cruise Discount the last to be deducted. 4.2 On-board spend discount 4.2.1 This discount only applies to purchases made on board in the bars (not combinable with FOCL’s Inclusive Drinks Upgrade), restaurants, room service, shops, duty free service, photographer, salon and in-cabin shopping. This discount cannot be applied to the cost of any Shore Tours booked on board or purchases from the Guest Services desk. Items may be excluded at the discretion of FOCL without liability to you.4.3 Pre-booked Shore Tours discount 4.3.1 This discount will be applied at the time of booking and payment, unless otherwise stated.

5 BenefitsThese limitations apply to all benefits listed in benefits section 5• All benefits are subject to availability and may be

withdrawn or altered at the absolute discretion

of Oceans Department, without limitation. FOCL reserves the right to make exclusions or exceptions to the availability of benefits at its absolute discretion

• Benefits are not available on any cruise holiday where another tour operator or third party has chartered a FOCL vessel

• Benefits are not available for any cruise booked on an Anchor Fare, as a concession, supernumerary or prize winner

• Benefits are personal to you and are non-transferable. Only you may claim benefits to which you are entitled. Benefits cannot be claimed for any other person, nor can anyone else claim benefits on your behalf. On board benefits can only be claimed using your own membership card/number. Any abuse or misuse of benefits may result in your membership being withdrawn

• No benefit can be claimed retrospectively5.1 Advance notice of future cruise programmes5.1.1 Although we will endeavour to inform Oceans members of new itineraries before telling non-members, FOCL reserves the right to inform other parties first. 5.2 Introduce a Friend reward scheme 5.2.1 Only introductions from valid Oceans members will be registered, and only valid Oceans members will be able to claim the reward. 5.2.2 Only adult guests new to FOCL can be introduced. 5.2.3 Introductions will not be accepted for any cruises booked as a concession, supernumerary, prize winner or as part of an organised group when the booking has been made through FOCL Groups Department. 5.2.4 Introductions must be registered prior to the friend taking their first cruise with FOCL.5.2.5 Rewards can be claimed once the friend has made their first FOCL cruise booking. 5.2.6 The reward amount will be calculated based on the level of Oceans membership at the time of the friend confirming their booking. The reward is given for each new adult guest introduced. 5.2.7 Once registered on the scheme, it is the Oceans member’s responsibility to claim the On Board Spend Voucher. Oceans will not issue the reward automatically.

5.2.8 All introductions and claims must be made in writing, by post or email. 5.3 Welcome Aboard Gift 5.3.1 The gift will be in your room upon arrival. 5.3.2 The gift offered will be reviewed and changed regularly. 5.3.3 One gift will be given per room or household. 5.3.4 No cash or alternative gift is available. 5.4 Highest Points Award 5.4.1 The Highest Points Award is given to the Gold Oceans member with the highest Cruise Points on an individual cruise of five nights or more. 5.4.2 The award is given on a ‘per household’ basis. 5.4.3 Only one award will be given in any calendar year. 5.4.4 All award items are subject to availability. 5.4.5 The award voucher issued should be sent to the Oceans Executive for redemption. 5.4.6 The award cannot be exchanged for cash. 5.4.7 This award will not be given to anyone booked as a supernumerary or prize winner. 5.5 Milestone Awards 5.5.1 The Milestone Award is for Diamond Elite members only. It is given on each cruise when a multiple of 250 Cruise Points is passed. 5.5.2 The award is given on a ‘per household’ basis.5.5.3 All award items are subject to availability.5.5.4 The award voucher issued should be sent to the Oceans Executive for redemption.5.5.5 The prize cannot be exchanged for cash. 5.5.6 This award will not be given to anyone booked as a supernumerary or prize winner.5.6 Complimentary refreshments at embarkation ports 5.6.1 For Dover and Southampton departures, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Elite members can claim complimentary tea, coffee and soft drinks, at the bar/cafe in the Cruise Terminal. This benefit is limited to one drink per member. To claim, you must show your Membership and boarding cards.5.7 Confirmed table number for dinner5.7.1 Dinner table request is for Diamond Elite members only and is subject to availability of sitting

and restaurant at the time of booking. Specific table numbers will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Table request must be made at least one week before departure.5.8 Free bag of laundry – Wash and Fold service5.8.1 Free laundry is for Diamond Elite members only. One voucher per member, per cruise will be given. To claim this benefit the voucher must be redeemed at Guest Services on board. 5.9 Streamlined embarkation5.9.1 Streamlined embarkation is for Diamond Elite members only from UK departure ports on an invitation only basis, subject to operational restrictions on the day of departure.5.10 Members-Only benefits5.10.1 Members-only offers are strictly valid for Oceans members only and are subject to the individual company’s own Terms and Conditions. Full details of how to claim your benefit can be found by following the links to the individual company’s website. Liability for the provision of these goods and services is the direct responsibility of the company. FOCL will not enter into any dispute resolution with a third party provider on behalf of any Oceans members. All offers may be amended or withdrawn at any time.

6 Long voyage and consecutive cruising exceptions6.1 Members travelling on multiple consecutive cruises (back to back) will be considered to be on individual cruises for the purpose of awards, points, discounts and benefits.6.2 Where a cruise is sold as both one long voyage and a collection of individual cruises covering the whole duration of that long voyage, for the purposes of Oceans awards, points, discounts and benefits the single long voyage will be treated as if it were a series of back to back cruises. Only primary brochure back to back cruises are covered. 6.3 This exception does not include any ad hoc, bespoke cruise durations or exclusive tour operator sectors.

7 General 7.1 If you do not wish to be a member of Oceans, or to receive any communications from FOCL, please write to the Club Executive at the postal or email address provided. 7.2 FOCL reserves the right to suspend membership without notice and without liability to you. 7.3 Entitlement to benefits is lost if your membership is cancelled. 7.4 With the exception of membership packs, all mailings to Oceans members will be sent one per household, and not one per member. 7.5 We are under no liability to you if, once sent, marketing literature or membership packs are not delivered or if you have failed to inform us of any changes to your details. 7.6 We will store and manage information regarding your membership on a computerised system. 7.7 To help develop and improve our services to you and other members, we may also contact you by post, email or telephone to give you information about products and services, including those offered by third parties, which may be of interest to you. Personal details will not be passed on to any third parties for marketing purposes without your express permission. 7.8 Marketing communications can be opted out of at any time by contacting FOCL’s Head Office in writing, by telephone 0800 0355 029, or by email to [email protected]. 7.9 FOCL cannot advise members at any time of any special promotions conducted by travel agents or charter operators involving cruises on board any of our ships. 7.10 No communication will be acknowledged or entered into regarding corporate policy.
