I’m nervous because thisshow means so much tome. Andy Williams waslike family to me...THIS year, Jimmy Osmond iscelebrating 50 years in show-biz, writes Samantha Fisher, and to mark it is touring with anew live show – A Tribute toAndy Williams – which is com-ing to De Montfort Hall nextmonth. The concert is on October 6,
and will be packed with popularsongs, nostalgic footage andJimmy’s own personal memor-ies of Andy Williams, thelegendary American crooner.Jimmy says it is an honour to
do this tour as a tribute toAndy, as he knew him so well.He said: “I am a little nervous.
I am not nervous to perform, Ithink I am nervous because thisshow means so much to me.Andy Williams was like familyto me.“I was three years old when I
started on his show and beforehe died he asked me to buy histheatre to keep his Christmasshows going. He wanted to beremembered for his music.“It is not about me, it is
about his music – hetouched a lot of lives withhis music.”Jimmy said one of his fa-
vourite moments in theshow is when heperforms Speak SoftlyLove, as he sings along-side footage of Andy onscreen. He said: “That is great
fun for me – we sing ittogether like bud-dies.”Jimmy has been to
Leicester on manyoccasions. “I havebeen to De MontfortHall a number oftimes. I was BillyFlynn in Chicago, and I was therewith my brothers afew times.”He’s looking for-
ward to gettingback. “I think overthe years, I havebeen able to makefriends who comeback and watch theshows. It is about re-
connecting with people,” hesays. “This tour is intense, it isa different city almost everyday. With all the time I havespent in Leicester, I am lookingforward to coming back tomake one more memory.“I grew up travelling all over
the place – and the UK has aspecial place in my heart.”Jimmy will perform many of
the romantic songs that madethe legendary Andy Williams sopopular, including Music ToWatch Girls By, Happy Heart,Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Al-most There, May Each Day,Days of Wine and Roses and, ofcourse, the song that was to
become his theme, Moon River. The youngest member of theOsmond family will be joined byThe Moon River Band, with spe-cial guest stars Charlie Greenand Emily Penny and, naturally,a show with an Osmond wouldnot be complete without someof the chart-topping hits thatmade Jimmy and his brothersfamous.
