strategic juncture of the Jezreel and Jordanvalleys. Like Jericho, it has been almost con-tinuously occupied throughout history. Afterdefeating Saul and his sons on Mt. Gilboa, thePhilistines hanged their bodies on the walls ofBeit-Shean. During the time of Jesus,Scythopolis was one of the chief cities of theDecapolis - a league of ten cities sharingGreek culture and government. Following thefertile Jordan Valley southward, your guide willpoint out the agricultural restoration of the“Land of Milk and Honey” and Israel’s intricateirrigation development. We pass ancientJericho and view from a distance this cityfamed as the oldest in the world. To the east ofJericho along the Jordan River Valley (QueserEl Yehud) is the Israeli side of BethanyBeyond the Jordan. In this area Jesus wasbaptized by John the Baptist, Elijah and Elishacrossed the Jordan, as well as where the chil-dren of Israel, led by Joshua, entered thePromised Land. Our lodging for the evening isat the Dead Sea – the lowest place on earth.Spend time in the special spa and enjoy a dipin the Dead Sea for a relaxing float before din-ner.

Day 9 (Nov. 15): Masada, Ein Gedi,Dead Sea Scrolls, Abraham's TentOur day begins with a cable car ride to themountain top fortress of Masada. Here ourguide will treat us to the history of the famouszealot stand. Afterwards we proceed to EinGedi, "Spring of the Goat," an oasis on thewestern shore of the Dead Sea. Because of itswarm climate and abundant supply of water, the site developed a reputation for its fragrantplants and date palm groves. This is whereKing David hid from Saul, and where Goddefeated the enemies of the Israelites bypraise and worship led by King Jehoshaphat.Next, we visit Qumran Caves where the DeadSea Scrolls were discovered. This evening wewill take part in the Genesis Land/Dinner inAbraham's Tent, where we enjoy a trip back intime: a reliving of life in the time of thePatriarchs, complete with costume, dramaticpresentation, and authentic food. Our lodgingfor the next four nights will be in Jerusalem.

Day 10 (Nov. 16): Around Jerusalem,Bible Times, BethlehemConditions permitting we will visit the Temple

Mount, with commentary on the TemplePeriods, and the variety of belief systems pastand present that make this area so valuable.Next we will visit the Wailing Wall and then thefascinating Rabbinical Tunnels leading usthrough the Second Temple era. The tunneland exhibit give a clear understanding of theamazing construction of the Temple Mount, giant stones, water supply and Roman streetwhere our Lord was led to judgment. Beforeexiting the tunnel we see the immense corner-stone rejected by the builders. We move on tothe Judgment Hall of Pilate, hear of those whoconspired against Him and are reminded ofHis brutal beating and humiliation. From herewe will also be able to see the Pool ofBethesda, Stephen's Gate and St. Ann’sChurch. This afternoon we visit the SouthernWall Excavations. This southern side of TheTemple was the main entrance for the com-mon folk, whereas the Priests and Levites hadtheir own entrance from the higher easternside. Parts of the giant stairs, which led to theTemple Mount from the courtyard have beenunearthed along with the purification pools. From here Jesus entered the Temple Mountand drove out the vendors and moneyexchangers who were exploiting the people. Itis also likely that this is the place that Peterstood and preached and where thousandswere saved and baptized on the Day ofPentecost. We spend the remainder of the daysurrounding the birth of Christ with a visit toBethlehem.

Day 11 (Nov. 17): Israel Museum,House of Caiaphas, Yad VashemAn interesting and educational time awaits ustoday at the Israeli Museum. Walk through col-lections of century’s old Israeli artifacts includ-ing the Dead Sea Scrolls, and then a guidedwalk through an accurately detailed model ofBiblical Jerusalem. This model will help putinto perspective all that you have seen overthe previous days touring. Next we visit theHouse of Caiaphas where Jesus was beatenand spit upon. See a pit where he may havebeen held for the evening and the ancient hill-side steps he walked as he was taken to becondemned. We conclude the day with a visitto Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum, for aneeded reminder of what the Jews have suf-fered as a people. This evening we enjoy a

special lecture by a local believer prior to din-ner, giving us a perspective of Messianic life inIsrael.

Day 12 (Nov. 18): Jesus' Steps, LastDays, Way of Suffering, GardenTombToday we walk where Jesus walked; beginningthe day with a panoramic view of the city,Mount Moriah and the Dome of the Rock fromatop the Mount of Olives and then the Gardenof Gethsemane. How many have wished to bewhisked back in time to get a glimpse of ourLord or hear His voice if only for a moment? To walk between the ancient olive trees, readthe scriptures of Jesus' prayer and take timefor personal reflection is important here.Passing by the Protestant Cemetery, we visitthe "Upper Room" just outside the Zion Gatewhere the disciple whom Jesus loved laid hishead on His breast and where later Thomascried, "my Lord & my God." While walkingalong the Via Dolorosa, we are reminded ofHis way of suffering along with a visit to theChurch of the Holy Sepulcher. Our guide willexplain the differing opinions on the route thatChrist was led and the actual place of crucifix-ion and burial is a very interesting study. Theclimax of the day is the area of Golgotha(place of the skull) and the Garden Tomb, where we celebrate the resurrection with com-munion and a time of praise.
