Term 4 Week 1 Dear Parents and Friends of Morisset PS, Term 4 is here! It is amazing how students grow over the holidays. Kindergarten are excited at pretending to be year 1 while the 2016 Kindergarten are visiting this term. With everything happening it is important that students continue to follow our school behaviour code. I recommend parents discuss the expectations and attitudes that are highlighted in class letters given out at the beginning of each term. At the end of Term 3 Isla, Lili, Ally and Grace were proud to show me their writing. Already I have had Mrs Knight sending up Sam and Payton from 1K. They have started the term with a Year 2 work attitude. Impressive work students! A big thank you to Mrs Nichols and Mrs Enoch for organising a fantastic celebration of NAIDOC on the last day of term. Always remember to make the most of the awesome moments. Kathryn Duncan - Principal K-2 Update Welcome back to our last term for 2015. We hope everyone has had a wonderful break and are ready for a busy and exciting term. Students have quickly settled back into routines. Class letters will be going home within the next fortnight. These will outline the wonderful programs and events happening in each class and across the school. Class letters will also be available on our school website. We are looking forward to working in partnership with you throughout Term 4 2015. Ms Gundert 3-6 Update Stage Three have hit the ground running with Musical rehearsals starting up again this week. All students with speaking parts should know most of their lines by now as they will be expected to practice without their scripts very shortly! A note outlining costume ideas will be coming home soon. We have a very busy term ahead of us with lots of activities and fun to look forward to, starting with the Morisset High School RAP day this Friday (9/10). All year 6 students who will start year seven at MHS are asked to attend. A note went home last term regarding the organisation for the day. Next Friday (16/10) is the Year 6 Fun Day. Students from years 5 and 6 will be running stalls and other activities to raise money for the Year 6 gift to the school. The whole school is invited to attend and join in the fun from 1:35pm. There will be water slides, games, lollies and other activities including the Teacher Sponge Throw! Activities will cost between 10c and $2, so please pack a small amount of change, your swimmers and come and join in the fun! Miss Webeck

Help us to win a Buddy Bench from KOFM!

The “Buddy Bench” is an idea that Tanya and Steve from KOFM want to implement in Newcastle and the Hunter schools to help stamp out bullying! The idea has come from Charlie, a nine year old boy from Cairns who implemented The Buddy Bench into his school. The Buddy Bench is a permanent bench at the school where children are encouraged to sit when they are feeling left out or bullied. If a classmate sees someone sitting on the bench

they are urged to invite them to play, walk or talk with them.

To help stamp out bullying across the Newcastle and Hunter, KOFM will be teaming up with Bunnings Warehouse to implement

The Buddy Bench into as many schools as possible.

Our Parliament is trying to win a Buddy Bench from KOFM. You can help us by nominating our school and filling out the form at http://www.kofm.com.au/win/26200-kofm-buddy-bench/

Thank you for your help!
