The Gallery generously provided the bus to Goulburn, a guided tour of Arlo Mountford’s solo exhibition and the artist-run workshops. Principal’s Report Over the past week, we have had students heavily involved with STEM activities. STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and is often used in reference to the knowledge and skills students will need to have for the careers required in our modern world, now and into the future. Thirty-two students represented Crookwell High School at the Science and Engineering Challenge last week in Goulburn and came third out of seven local high schools. This was a great effort with our students showing great teamwork and skill. Congratulations to our students and to Mrs Croker and Mr Loughman for supporting the excursion. Mrs Abbey and Mrs Dark took another group of students to Gullen Range Wind Farm to see a solar powered car in action. They were fascinated by the technology and asked many questions from the University team that constructed the vehicle. Well done to those students and staff for this great opportunity. Our school has already been successful in gaining a grant for $20,000 to support STEM across the community of schools. We have been able to win a further $45,000 to increase the partnership thanks to Regional Development Australia and the University of Newcastle. Teachers from our partner primary schools will work as part of a team with our teachers to develop a community of schools-wide project. Congratulations to our boys hockey team for making it through to the next round, and good luck to our girls team who play this Tuesday. A huge thank you to Mrs McCormack and Mr Whittle for the support they give to those students. This week at assembly, our students involved with RFS Training graduated with their graduation being attended by Deputy Commissioner Bronwyn Jones as well as the Honourable Pru Goward representing the Minister for Emergency Services, the Honourable Troy Grant. It was fantastic for our students and trainers to be recognised in a public way for their great work this year. Parent-teacher night is on this Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure you organise bookings through your students or ring the office to make appointments to speak to specific staff if you are unable to attend. Our Year 10 Subject Information Evening has been rescheduled to Week 5 so it is the same night, (but a different timeslot) to the Year 8 Elective Information Evening. More information will follow soon. As I look at the achievements of our students and school, I am continually amazed at how much we can achieve for a school this size. There is no doubt that we are a school of big opportunities. Vero Joseph Principal Graduating RFS students at Assembly
