Dear Willandra Community

It is already the end of Week Two, but I would like to officially

welcome everyone back to Term Three. I have enjoyed

hearing all about what the kids got up to on their holidays.

Everyone has settled back into the routine of school life which

has been supported by a positive atmosphere around the

school.

‘With PRIDE we learn. With PRIDE we grow’ is Willandra’s motto;

and it is PRIDE that I will be encouraging across the community.

I am proud to belong to Willandra’s community.

My aim is to instil a sense of PRIDE in all our students in whatever

they do around the school.

At our first student assembly this term, I went through a number

of ways that students can show this:

Students’ can:

Always use their manners; be respectful of others.

Wear our school uniform.

Do their best in their school work.

Always walk on our paths around the school.

Pick up any rubbish they may find.

Be PROUD of themselves!

Students can show PRIDE in their school by simply wearing the

correct uniform. Our uniform consists of:

A blue polo shirt or jacket with the black school logo.

Black shorts, pants or skirt.

Students may also wear their faction shirts, also with the

school logo.

Buckets hats, with their faction colour, must be worn

during all outside activities and play.

Denim is excluded from the School Dress Code.

Students who consistently choose not to comply with the dress

code may be excluded from certain excursions and

programmes. Parents will be contacted if this issue becomes a

problem for the child.

On a personal note, I would like to say how humbled I am at

the opportunity I have been given this semester, to lead the

school I love so much. I am committed to ensuring the students

of Willandra know they are supported in all they do and will be

encouraged to do their best always. Parents, if you need to

speak with me for any reason; please make an appointment

through the front office; this ensures that I am able to give due

time and attention to your issue.

All the best for the term ahead.

Aussies of the Month

Laicee S and Savannah M

Aussie of the Month is a primary school recognition program which has been in operation for

over twenty years. The program recognises personal endeavour, achievement and contribution

to the community and reflects some of the values we share, such as fair go, mateship, respect

and inclusion.

Aussie of the Month is delivered by the same network that presents the Australian of the Year

Awards nationally. The Australian of the Year Awards profile leading citizens who are role models

for us all, who inspire us through their achievements and community participation, and

challenge us to make our own contribution to the community.

Aussie of the Month aims to encourage an appreciation of the diversity and depth of personal

contribution and achievement possible within your school, and bring about increased concern

and consideration for all members of the school community.

Deserving students are nominated by staff and these nominations are considered by the

Administration Team, with one winner named per month.

Aussies of the Month for July are Laicee and Savannah, who were nominated for demonstrating

school values, as noted by their class teachers, demonstrating maturity during challenging

situations and the perseverance to complete all given tasks to a high standard.

Congratulations, Laicee and Savannah, and thank you for helping make our school such a

wonderful place!

P & C News

GENERAL

Welcome back to what is going to be an exciting term ahead. This week we have sent home with

students a P&C package which includes updates of our Term 3 events in advance. Our Colour Explosion

for PP-6 has changed to Friday 20th September, Week 9 to include the Year 6 students who are at Camp

in Week 10. Kindergarten Colour Explosion remains unchanged on Wednesday 18th September 2019.

We have tickets to our Father's Day raffle available to purchase via the blue box and canteen for $3

each from the 1st August until the 21st August 2019. This year, we have some fantastic prizes from Auto

Bahn Haynes, Entertainment Book, Perth Wildcats and Fremantle Dockers. The raffle winners will be

announced at assembly on the 22nd August 2019.

Donations for our Father's Day stall can be dropped off at the office before our stall on Wednesday 28th

September 2019. If you are able to volunteer time at our stall, please contact our P & C.

We currently have a few vacant P & C positions; Vice President, Secretary and Uniform Shop

Coordinator which need to be filled at our next meeting on Wednesday 7th August, in the staff room at

6:30pm. If you are interested in helping our P & C continue the work we do, please contact us via our

Facebook page or leave a message with the office staff and we will be in contact.
