Term 3 Week 10 Friday, 27 September 2019
What an exciting and busy end of term we have had! We have finished the term with an awesome Year 4 Camp and a terrific Footy Fun Day. I would like to acknowledge Mrs Fuller for her organisation surrounding the Year 4 Camp. A huge thankyou goes to the staff Mrs Fuller, Miss Cascio, Mrs Keroulis, Mr Blanch and Mrs Lazarevic who accompanied the students to camp. They gave up their personal and family time to ensure the students get such a wonderful opportunity and we truly appreciate this. Also a big thankyou to Mrs Richter and her team for the organisation of Footy Fun Day the day went off with a BANG! The students had an amazing time. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge our teaching and administrative staff for their hard work this term. The students of Wattle Grove are blessed to have such a wonderful team behind them as they travel their educational journey. Thanks also goes out to our wonderful and supportive parents, carers and friends who have continued to work with us to provide opportunities and support for our students. Have a wonderful break I hope you all have a fabulous holiday with family and friends. Stay safe and we will see you back for Term 2! Students return for Term 4
on Monday 14 October 2019.
P & C Book Donation Last week our students participated in National Reading Hour. This initiative was supported by our generous P & C who have kindly donated a book to every child. Nurturing a love of reading is important and we thank our P & C for supporting this. The students were buzzing and whilst walking home from school many noses were planted into the book already.

Giants Training Session. Stage 3 were given a wonderful opportunity on Tuesday as they were invited to attend the Giants training session ahead of this week’s grand final. The students met many players and were very excited with the merchandise they were given. Thank you to the Giants and AFL NSW for providing us with free transport, lunch and merchandise on the day. You may have even caught a glimpse of our kids on the news as this event was covered by the media. A big thankyou to Mrs Cook and Mrs Farah for the quick organisation of this event when the Giants won their
game last weekend to progress to the final.
Oliver Phommavanh -Author Visit Last week, we were fortunate to have all classes in Years 3-6 participate in writing workshops with Australian Author Oliver Phommavanh. The workshops were engaging and full of energy as students participated in activities which helped them develop character traits and create ‘trouble’ for their main character. The students and the teachers learnt a lot and had fun in the process. Event Cinemas – Holiday Offer Event Cinemas have a great offer to share with our students for the school holidays. They are selling an awesome deal for the school holidays – A kids E-Voucher package. For $15 it includes a Kids E-Voucher and kids food combo (Midi popcorn and drink). This offer is only available to Cinebuzz members and can be purchased at – https://giftshop.eventcinemas.com.au/Products/CinebuzzKidsSpringCombo
Enjoy the school holidays!

Premiers for Winter PSSA 2019 Senior Netball – Red Senior Netball – Blue Junior Boys B Football Junior Girls A Football Senior Girls Football
Congratulations to all teams on a fantastic effort throughout the season! Senior B Netball
Congratulations girls on a great season! Unfortunately
the wet weather stopped us from playing our Grand
Final however, due to your hard work during the
season we finished first on the ladder and have been
named premiers for 2019! I’m extremely proud of all
of your efforts and have enjoyed being your coach.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who
came to support the girls and score each week.
Mrs Bartram
Junior & Senior C Netball
Well done junior girls on your continuous efforts this
season. Although most of you were new to netball this
year, I am really proud of how you all improved
enormously each week. We didn’t quite make the semis
but had some very close games and a few good wins.
Congratulations senior girls for making it to semis. We
had a lot of great wins and you worked hard as a team.
Although we were beaten (by our own school), you
should be very proud of how well you played all season.
Thank you for helping me train the juniors and your
enthusiasm each week.
I’d like to thank all the parents and grandparents who
came to support the girls and helped score, it was much
appreciated.
Thanks girls for an enjoyable season of netball!

All 26 students who represented our school are to be commended for their efforts and behaviour. There were many students (at least 8) who missed out going to the State Carnival by one place, as they came 4th in a final. The results for those students who placed and are going to state are:

A big congratulations to Thomas & Amelia who
participated in the Judo Junior School’s Cup on 15
September 2019.
Judo is a sport where individuals compete against each other to score an ‘Ippon’ which is awarded for a controlled throw or for pinning an opponent down for 20 seconds. Judo has many practical uses and teaches using opponents momentum to your benefit.
Well done Thomas & Amelia!
Tyler Turtle Program During term 3 I was able to run 3 groups of the Tyler Turtle Program. We finished off the program this week with a mindfulness calming session. Thank you to all of the students for your participation.
