Tena Kotou katoa… a warm welcome to you all.
What a wonderful group of students we welcomed back on Monday. They are all looking refreshed,
relaxed and keen to get on with their learning.
We have now reached 200 students. To assist us with our planning and organisation, I would appreciate
knowing if your family is moving on June the 1st or could be moving at some time during the remainder
of the year.
ANZAC Service Friday the 4th May @ 9.30a.m. school hall
For those of you who attended the village ANZAC Service I’m sure you were as proud of our Student
Executive as I was. Weren’t they great! I’ve had some people ask me about my thoughts following the
address of the guest speaker. I felt confident that our school students to learn about conflicts and wars
and this showed in our, student speeches and their ability to reply to the quest speakers’ questions to
them. It has always been a long standing tradition at Ōhaupō School and in the community to recognise
ANZAC Day and the significance of it.
Our school has always had an annual service and this year we extend an open invitation to all to attend
our service this Friday the 4th of May at 9.30a.m. in the school hall. Our guest speaker will be Father
Chris Skinner composer and singer of the song “Sons of Gallipoli”. We are looking forward to hearing
him sing this beautiful song and then the school joining in with him.
Student led- conferences:
I know many of you are continuing to enjoy the online facilities that are enabling us and vice versa to
share our child’s learning with you. In addition, you now have an opportunity to attend an interview with
your child and their hub teachers on Monday the 21st and 28th of May and on Wednesday the 28th and 30th
of May. These will be teacher – led for Yrs 3-6 and student led for Yrs 7 & 8 and will be 15 minutes long.
Please make sure you secure you time slot early so you will not be disappointed.
Maths Whizz
Thanks to all those people who have paid their child’s Math’s Whizz amount. We did ask if these could
all be settled by the end of Term 1 and a reminder was sent to those people with outstanding accounts
yesterday. Can these please be attended to promptly or access will need to be restricted to those who
have qualified for access to Maths Whizz.
We have another exciting term ahead of us and look forward to your positive support.
