School Uniform
With the change of the Season, it is time to start thinking about winter uniform’s. School Uniform details
can be found inside the school diary Student’s are issued.
The school also stocks woollen jumpers which are exactly the same as St Josephs and comparable in price
to the rugby tops but a lot warmer. Please assist the school by dressing your child in the school uniform.
This adds to the look and pride within our School, and in our Community.
Summer Sports
Last week was another successful summer sports campaign despite some of the sports impacted by wet
weather. Students from Kerang performed well and enjoyed their outings to the various sports on offer
across the District. I have received reports that it was a very enjoyable day with exemplary behaviour of the
Kerang Technical High School students. All reports from team coaches were exactly the same; enjoyable,
well behaved, no issues, played in good spirits. This is pleasing to hear and allows staff and students to
interact on another level developing a better rapport. This can only benefit educational relationships at
school. Well done to all who participated and well done to Mrs Demaria for her organisation.
For those students who did not attend summer sports, we are investigating how we can make their time
more productive and will be looking at implementing these changes for the winter sports in May.
Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Undoubtedly you have been hearing, reading and watching all the rumours and news about the spread of
Novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Some I have heard include cases found in Swan Hill and Echuca, and
school closures, let alone the visible sign of empty shelves in supermarkets.
FOR KTHS IT IS BUSINESS AS USUAL
Having said this there are a few things we can do to further minimise the risk of becoming infected.
Good hygiene practices are the most effective means of minimising the spread of Novel coronavirus
(COVID-19). As a school, we have a responsibility to help stop the spread of infection by providing soap
and other hygiene consumables to support good hand hygiene. Staff, students and families can protect
against infections by practising good hand and respiratory hygiene.
Here are some tips that everyone can follow:
Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue, or cough into your elbow.
Dispose of the tissue into a bin and then wash your hands afterwards.
Wash your hands regularly, using soap and water, including after using the toilet, and before
eating.
End of Term Early Finish
A reminder to all parents that school finishes at 2:30pm Friday 27th of March, and recommences after the
holidays Tuesday 14th of April due to Easter.

Receiving Hard Copies of Reports
Last year student’s reports were available electronically through the XUNO communication platform. We also provided a hard
copy of these reports to students who had requested. This will again be happening for Term one Interim reports and
subsequent reports from then on. All reports will be available electronically but we recognise however, that some people
would prefer to receive a hard copy. If you would like to opt into receiving a hard copy then please contact me using one of
the methods outlined below.
Phone: 5452 1062
Email: [email protected] Xuno: message Kathryn Thomson
If you requested a hard copy last year then you will receive a hard copy of your students reports automatically. Otherwise you
will be able to access your child’s Term One Interim Report via Xuno from 2.30 pm on Friday 27th March. If you need assistance
to log in to Xuno then please contact the school and we will be happy to help you with this

The Wellbeing Team has been encouraging some of our senior
students to form a Leadership Group to plan an activity for Youth
Week next Term.
Matthew Allen, Michael and Sharon have been working with our School and House
Captains and our Vice Captains, to develop a student voice within the school. There is
strong evidence that students become more engaged in their learning when they have
opportunities to contribute to the communities where they learn. It also builds confidence
and develops their skills in communication and decision making. Student Voice is not
simply giving students the opportunity to communicate ideas and opinions; it is about
students having the power to influence change. We are working towards having a
Student Representative Council (SRC), which will have elected students from each level to
participate in the SRC in the future. But at present , we are looking forward to what our
senior student leadership team have planned for Youth
Week. Cheers, Meg

Junior Girls Basketball
The Junior Girls team consisted of Brylee Clingan, Victoria Apostoleis,
Abby Hipworth, Ruby O’Brien, Mikaylah King and Kate Heffer.
Throughout the day the girls improved majorly within their skills as well
as their confidence with some of the girls who had never played
basketball before scoring. the girls put in an enormous amount of effort,
staying positive throughout the day. Coming third overall, the girls
should be very proud of their achievement.
Thanks very much to Makenzi Rosser for her outstanding coaching as
well as Alley Gitsham and Shaeli Gitsham for they wonderful coaching
assistance.
Best Players: Kate Heffer and Brylee Clingan
Intermediate Boys Basketball
Last Thursday the 5th of March, KTHS was represented in the
Interschool Intermediate Basketball by 8 enthusiastic year 9 & 10
Boys.
The Day started well with a win over Cohuna in a fast-paced game
our Boys found it hard to sink a basket early. But as the game went
on things started to flow and we were able to take control in the
second half to record a win.
The Second Game was against Swan Hill. In a highly skilled encounter,
the Kerang team were pipped by an extremely tall team. Our dogged
determination to win the ball kept us in the game but ultimately the
tall timber of the Swan Hill team proved the difference.
The third and final game against McKillop was a great contest with
scores tied at the change of ends. Unfortunately, the Kerang boys
tired towards the end of the second half and went down to a well
drilled McKillop team.
Intermediate Boys Team consisted of Codie Anderson, Tyson Clingan,
Mason Dibsdale, Cody Makeham, Bohden McKnight, Nick Murray,
Corey Walters and Aochim Warren.
All the players that took the court showed exceptional sportsman-
ship, skill and determination throughout the whole day and were
terrific ambassadors for our School. I found choosing best players a
difficult task. But for consistency throughout the day Codie Anderson,
Corey Walters and Bohden McKnight were the best.

Intermediate Girls Basketball
The Intermediate Girls team played really well together as a team,
and was able to get 1 win for the day against Cohuna. Swan Hill
and MacKillop proved to be too strong, however the girls must be
commended for their effort and outstanding sportsmanship. There
were lots of laughs and smiles, which showed the girls thoroughly
enjoyed the day! All girls contributed to the results, best players
included Jessie Teasdale and Montana Keating.

5 tips for managing your Child’s Anxiety
1. Slow down
Encourage your child to take some slow deepbreaths. Breath in for 3 seconds, hold for 3 seconds,
breath out for 3 seconds. You can help by doing
this with them.
2. Make time to worrySet aside 10-15 minutes each day to talk with your child about what they
are worried about. They may find it easier to write or draw what they are
worried about.
3. Encourage positive thinkingRemind them of a similar situation from the past and how things worked out
OK.
4. Try new things and have a goAnxious children may often be worried about trying something new and
making a mistake. Encourage them to have a go and remind them that it is
OK if they make a mistake.
5. Step back and look at your own behaviorIt can be difficult to see your child struggling. But ‘over-helping’ when
something is wrong can make your child feel like they cannot do anything
without your help.

Dear Students and Parents,
RE: Alternative to Schoolies Trip
We are seeking firm expressions of interest from year 12 students to participate in a community service tour of
Cambodia after the end of their exams as an alternative to schoolies week. This year we welcome students from
Kerang Technical High School, Cohuna Secondary College and Kerang Christian Community College to apply.
We offer this trip to:
focus students at a very important time in their lives on the satisfaction gained through service to others
draw students closer together as they focus on group goals that have no tangible rewards
engender a sense of adventure and a preparedness to step outside their comfort zones.
The students will work on projects in local communities with local families. They will have to raise money that will be
used in the designated community project/s. The fundraising activities will be decided upon by the group at the first
full team meeting and all students are expected to participate.
Students MUST attend regular team meetings, along with 2 attendances at a meeting of the Rotary Club of
Kerang, one in late May (where they will be presented with team shirts) and a second, upon return in
December (this being a formal presentation to the club).
Students will be required to undertake cultural learning activities prior to departure. Students should remember that
they are acting as Ambassadors for their family, their school, their community, the Rotary Club of Kerang, Lime
Pagoda and Australia whilst part of this team.
Costs are expected to be around $2700 per person (not including spending money).
Your genuine interest in being part of this trip MUST be communicated to Mrs Gerardine Prendergast by 5pm on
Friday March 27th. You will need to express your interest via email to [email protected]. Names will
not be taken via any other means. No late names will be taken.
All students and parents will be required to attend for an interview after this date. Students will be advised of their
interview times shortly after the deadline. Interviews will take place during the first week of Term 2. Following
selection, all team members and a parent will be required to attend the first team meeting in Kerang on Monday 27th
April at the Rotary Clubroom in Rattray St Kerang at 7pm. A non-refundable deposit of $350 is payable at this
first meeting.
Should you have questions at this stage, please do not hesitate to contact Sharon Champion on 0417 058663 or via

Yours sincerely,
