Directed by Padraig Dennehy the Gospel is delivered directly to the audience in a contemporary format in the intimate setting of the chapel-turned-auditorium, enhanced by a very creative set and lighting design by Ger O’Sullivan. “Mark is a geographical journey, written with a sense of urgency under persecution,” said Mr O’Mahony. “As an actor, when you study a text you have to embrace it and make it mean something to you. I could see some of my own journey in it. For myself, like a lot of my generation, I drifted away from the Faith as a teenager and came back in my 30s. I progressed from there through my prayer life evolved over years and developed a personal relationship with God.” For bookings contact the Ardfert Retreat Centre on 066-713-4276 or 087-160-4628. Pilgrims prepare for Easter walk to Clonmacnois For the second year a pilgrimage is being undertaken from Dublin to Clonmacnois during Easter Week. Last year a group of pilgrims completed the walk to mark the canonisations of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II, ending with afternoon Mass with Bishop Francis Duffy at the ruins of Clonmacnois. This year organisers are preparing to walk again to mark the one year anniversary of the canonisations and also to celebrate Easter and Divine Mercy Sunday by taking time for prayer, community and adventure. The pilgrimage will take place from Easter Monday to Divine Mercy Sunday (April 6-13). Walkers will complete approximately 20-30km a day and stay in accommodation offered by families and community groups along the route. Mass will be celebrated in Clonmacnoise on the final day. For more information contact Joanna Aitken on 085-1974537. Parish play examines the role of Judas The Clontarf Players, a parish-based drama group in Dublin, is presenting the Easter story from a more unusual point of view with the play Last Days of Judas Iscariot. Written by the American playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis and first directed on Broadway by acclaimed actor Philip Seymour Hoffman in 2005, the play presents a story with humour but with an underlying thread of universal and profound questions. “This is our fourth year of presenting an Easter play and we always try to present the Easter story through a different medium ROME: Terenure College Schola Cantorum with Fr Simon Nolan, O.Carm (left) and Ambassador Emma Madigan, Ireland’s diplomatic representative to the Holy See, during a visit to Rome du the St Patrick’s Day celebrations.
