“HSWC wants to challenge local runners to make running a 5K about helping to find forever families for homeless dogs and cats in our community. By signing up to run the 5K or stroll with their dogs in the 1 Mile Dog Walk participants can take part in a fun event that provides support to save animals’ lives,” said Ron Marullo, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Williamson County. Marullo went on to say, “The 5K Rescue Run is a unique way to raise needed funds. On average it costs $200 to prepare an animal for adoption, including spay/neuter, vaccinations, food, and shelter. On the day of the Rescue Run, HSWC is hosting a Super Adoption Event to find 100 dogs, cats, puppies, and kitties their forever homes in a single day! We are a private organization and do not receive any government funding. This race is a creative and fun way to engage our local community to help support our mission. The Free Super Adoption Event that will directly follow the Rescue Run will be incredibly inspiring for all to see their donations directly at work.”

Animal lovers, running enthusiasts, and community activists can now register for both the 5K Rescue Run as well as the 1 mile Dog Walk online at www.hswc.net/5k. Early registration 5K pricing of $20 is available now until July 31. The 1 mile Dog Walk registration fee is $15 for the first registered dog per family and $10 for each additional dog. Registered participants will receive a t-shirt, goody bag, and a medal upon completion of the race and walk.
