***Program Spotlight***

The Presence: What is it that is so special about the Eucharist? Although the Eucharist appears to be simple bread and wine, it is actually the “source and summit” of the Christian life. Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist explores the truth and beauty of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members. It is the crescendo of the entire story of salvation.

Padre Bill

HEALING OF FAMILIES MISSION – JUNE 18-20 (7:00 pm)

Over the years as a priest I’ve come to recognize that some problems in families seem to occur from one generation to another. Addiction to alcohol, drugs or pornography, domestic violence, and suicide are some examples. The reasons for these problems can be various---psychological, genetic, domestic environments, etc. There may also be a spiritual issue underlying these problems. For three nights I invite you to attend a special mission to address these issues and to seek God’s healing for these problems that wound so deeply our family life. On the third night, Wednesday, June 20th, a special Mass will be offered for the “Healing of the Family Tree”. All sessions will be bilingual.

Fr. Bill

St. Anthony of Padua (1195-1231) Patron Saint of Lost items Feast day is June 13 Anthony was born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1195 as Ferdinand, and was taught by the Augustinian friars. He joined their order, when he was old enough. When he was twenty-five he learned of some Franciscans who had been martyred by the Moors in

Morocco. Ferdinand was so impressed with the martyrs’ courage, that he got permission to transfer from the Augustinian Order to the Franciscan Order, taking the name of Anthony.

No one in his new religious order realized how brilliant and talented Anthony was. He never spoke about himself. So, his Franciscan superiors assigned him to a quiet friary in Italy. There he washed pots and pans. One day he was asked to preach in front of a crowd of priests and important people. Everyone was surprised at the wonderful things he said about God. From then on, until he died nine years later, Anthony was sent to preach all over Italy.

After 1226, Anthony remained in the city of Padua, Italy. There his preaching completely changed the lives of the people. He helped the poor and worked to keep people who couldn’t pay their bills from being thrown into prison. His sermons helped people to not only understand their faith better, but to put it unto practice, too.

Anthony died at Arcella, near Padua, Italy, on June 13, 1231. He was only thirty-six years old. Pope Gregory IX proclaimed him a saint just one year later.
