Our Vision: A society where women hold an equal place in leadership, policy and decision-making.
Core Competencies: Leadership | Mentoring | Networking
WHO We ARE
most women, regardless of talent, competence or position were kept outside of the city’s power structure. On February 6, 1975, a handful of women set out to change the landscape for women. They gathered to participate in the first TEMPO Business and Professional Women’s Club of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which has grown and evolved into what is known today as TEMPO Milwaukee. The hope of the founding members was to create a society where women hold an equal place in leadership, policy and decison-making. The organization has remained true to its foundational mission and continues to evolve as the business landscape in Milwaukee changes. TEMPO Milwaukee views the future as an opportunity to grow and create more awareness for the organization.

Emerg ingWomen
In the fall of 2015, TEMPO Milwaukee launched its EmergingWomen Leaders initiative to address relevance, succession planning, brand awareness and championing of younger, mid-level (6 to 8 years of professional experience; identified as leaders within their organizations and active in the community) women leaders. TEMPO Milwaukee solicited nominations from its 300+ members for potential participation in the Emerging Women Leaders program. Forty women representing 35 Milwaukee companies were selected.

Networking/leadership/mentoring opportunities with TEMPO Milwaukee members
The Mentor Circles program is a key differentiator for TEMPO Milwaukee, and a highlight of membership for participants. Participants receive monthly peer-to-peer mentoring in a small group that is tailored to their interests and personal/professional goals. There are currently six circles with approximately eight members each.
As part of the 40th anniversary communications campaign, a charitable giving initiative was introduced in the fall of 2015: TEMPO Elevates Milwaukee. The initiative served as a way for members to enhance their charitable contributions while honoring TEMPO Milwaukee’s 40 years as an organization of women leaders.
“Circles are the best reason for TEMPO Milwaukee membership.”
“Working through personal and professional challenges through my Circle participation has allowed me to grow.”
