ATHLETIC NEWS Please use our TPA School Calendar to find all of our updates on TPA Athletics games, dates, and locations. Knight Baseball Team on a 4-0 Roll Congratulations to our Varsity Knights on their 4-0 start to the season in the Phoenix Christian tournament this past weekend. The Knights outscored their 4 opponents 44 - 10 over the course of the 4 days of competition. The most thrilling victory was a go ahead run in the last inning and a 6-5 victory against Valley Christian High School on Friday morning. Well done Knights. Tournament champs and more to come! A Different Kind of Fan: As Spring sports in the High School and Middle School get ready to begin, I would like to remind our fans of the great service our officials provide at home and away events. We live in a culture that is increasingly uncivil and undignified in many aspects of how we commonly treat one-another but let it be said of Tempe Preparatory Academy fans that we respect the men and women who are serving as officials at all competitions and at all levels. As a parent of a Knight, I am asking the parents of our Knights to lead the way in our conduct and self-control in the heat of battle. Please consider the example you and I set to those fans on the sideline, behind the backstop, and in the bleachers this Spring. Below are some bullet points from the Parent’s Code of Conduct in our Athletic Handbook:

1. Attend as often as possible.

Remember those days when our young children would say “Watch this, Mom. Check this out, Dad!”

2. Be involved in a positive way in the athletic program. Cheer for great effort from all of our Knights as well as your Knight and ask the coach how you can help.

3. Encourage and support your Coaching Staff and stand behind their decisions. This is particularly difficult when you are hearing one side of a story from your son/daughter.

4. Please refrain from sideline coaching. This undermines the designated authority of the coach and support for him or her.

5. Please display sportsmanship at all times.

Page 3: Tempe Preparatory Academy · Rebekah Smaw Solange Steadman ... Grade 11: Free QuestBridge College Prep Scholars Program ... Tempe Preparatory Academy

Controlling yourself is the best way to help our student-athletes control themselves.

6. All athletes should only be encouraged in their endeavors. Addressing opposing athletes and/or coaches is off limits at all times.

7. Use the open door policy of our Head Coaches. Encourage your son or daughter to grow as a man or woman by bringing concerns to the Head Coach and working out any issues directly with the Coach.

Sincerely and in your service, David Brittain / Athletic Director
