• Nonscarring alopecia • Diffuse hair shedding• No inflammation• Systemic stress (3 months)• spontaneous recovery

Physiopathology

• Systemic stress a large number of hairs to enter telogen at one time

• Shedding does not occur until the new anagen hairs begin to grow

• Sex: both /more female?• Age: Any/ even infancy• Can affect any parts of the body, but

only loss of scalp hair is symptomatic. • Acute/chronic (12 months)• Patients usually only complain that

their hair is falling out at an increased rate

Scarring

Inflammatory scalp dermatitis

Complaints of body hair loss (usually)

• The physician does not appreciate a decrease in hair density

• Short new hairs growing

Prognosis

• Good• Self limited• No sequelae• Chronic not predictable, not rapidly

Treatment

• Caused by medication? D/C• Reassure the patient• Balanced diet• Collecting all hairs shed compare• No medication• Minoxidil 5% chronic
