Notes:
RET System
The general ATC200 TELETILT® variable electrical downtilt control system from Andrew
Corporation is shown above. This consists of the controller system, the RET/TMA, user
supplied interface, and accessories (i.e. cables, ground kits). The user supplied interface
can either be a personal computer or a laptop.

System Hardware Components
TELETILT® control system is comprised of several components. These are RET
capable antennas, actuators, low voltage cable assemblies, splitters, junction boxes,
and the TELETILT® remote controller interface.

Notes:
Local Controller
The Local Controller provides the means to independently adjust the electrical
downtilt of each antenna. This controller requires only one low voltage control cable
to be taken up the tower to control up to thirty two devices (RET/TMA).
Because of it's small size, the local controller can be hand carried from site to site to
make downtilt adjustments. A site would have the actuators and cabling installed, and
the controller would be taken to the site only when downtilt adjustments are required.
This unit should not be installed at the site.

Notes:
Actuator
The actuator unit allows the electrical downtilt of the antenna to be motorized.
The actuator can be fitted into an existing variable electrical downtilt antenna already
installed in the field easily and without the need to realign the antenna. The design is
also such that usually the retrofit can be performed without moving or disconnecting
the existing feeder cable.

Notes:
Low Voltage Cable
Cabling is used to connect from the local controller to the devices, and then (if
needed) between subsequent accessories. The cables are available in varying
lengths and are terminated on both ends with connectors.
Cables of standard lengths can be connected together. However it’s important to not
exceed 120 m (394 ft) from controller to the last device in line.
While engaging the cable connectors into the devices or controller connections, turn
the connector coupling clockwise until finger tight. The device and control cables are
weather resistant to IP67* when mated and do not require further weatherproofing.
The connectors are gender specific.
It is important to remember:
Female goes up and away (up the tower and away from the components)
*IP67 is outdoor rated for protection against elements.

Notes:
Antennas
Variable electrical downtilt antenna models, in production and under development, are
designed for use with the ATC200 TELETILT® control system. These antenna typesinclude selected single band antennas, dual band and tri band antennas. The actuator
can be attached at the time of initial antenna installation or subsequent to the antenna
deployment, making the control system field retrofitting. If a user has a manually
adjustable variable electrical downtilt antenna in the field, the antenna can be field
retrofitted with the ATC200 control system, no realignment of the antenna is needed.
For dual polarized antennas, the adjustment mechanism for variable electrical downtilt
adjusts both polarizations at the same time. Users do not have to individually set the
electrical tilt of each polarization.
For multi-band antennas, each band of the antenna is individually adjustable. Devicesare attached to each band, and the controller can adjust each actuator.
For example, a dual band dual polarized antenna will require two devices, one for each
frequency band on the antenna. When the controller makes adjustments to the first
frequency band, both polarizations of this frequency band are adjusted. When the
controller makes adjustments to the second frequency band, both polarizations of that
frequency band are adjusted.
Note that devices are required for each single band antenna, or each frequency band
within a multi-band antenna. For example, two single antennas or a dual band antennawould require two actuators and three actuators would be required for either three
single band antennas or a tri-band antenna.

Notes:
Lightning Protection
The TELETILT® remote control variable electrical downtilt system incorporates
lightning protection. The cabling assemblies are provided with shielding, and the cable
installation should be grounded at appropriate intervals. Data cables require grounding
at the top, bottom and on vertical runs greater than 60 m (200 ft) a ground connection
should be made at mid-span.
A lightning junction box protection unit ATJB-A01-004 is IP67* and the ability to be
installed at various places to the control cable entry into the base station housing in
order to protect valuable equipment inside. It is necessary to ground the housing to the
site’s master ground bar.
This unit is only needed when the controller is permanently installed.
*IP67 is outdoor rated for protection against elements.

Thread the lock nut onto the clear bushingto the end of the thread (finger tight only).
Push in the actuator rod until the maximum
downtilt is reach (14° on the 6513; 7° on
the 6516; and 4.7° on the 6517).
Verify the adjustment rod is moving freely!

Thread the actuator onto the actuator rod
until lightly snug. Unthread the actuator 1
turn or less until the actuator is aligned so
that the drain holes on the bottom of the
actuator are in front. This positions the
actuator so that it does not interfere with
the feeder cable. Tighten the lock washer
onto the actuator.
Do not apply excessive torque.

Device Configuration and Operation
It is recommended that the user check for software/manual updates on the Andrew
web site (www.andrew.com) every 30 days.
PRE-INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS1. While on the ground, connect actuators, one at a time, to the controller and
test for proper function.
2. Record the following information on the Site Configuration Worksheet provided.
• Serial Number
• Antenna Type
• Location Antenna will be installed at on Tower (for each actuator)

Can take up to 10 minutes
to complete, depending on# of devices.

INSTALLATION CHECK LIST
1. Climber: Disconnect the data cables from the actuator and make sure
connectors are not damaged. Reconnect to actuator. Make surethe connector coupling “clicks” on securely. Lightly tug on cable to
assure connection.
2. Ground Personnel: Type commands to move the actuator position to “0”.
Climber: Visually confirms. Note: Within one or two tenths is ok.
3. Ground Personnel: Move actuator position to the maximum position.
Climber: Visually confirms.
4. Ground Personnel: Without disclosing to the climber, move actuator position
to a random position somewhere in the middle of the
range.
Climber: Visually confirms by signaling downtilt position.
