Nordic Walking & Jogging…The “Active Fitness Park” at Maria Alm, offers 15 varied routes and 11 different paths across different terrain for both Nordic Walkers and joggers to be active outdoors and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

Biking pleasure…Discover the beautiful fauna and flora at the Hochkönig region on mountain bikes. Saddle up the bike, fill up the drinking bottle, fix the helmet and off you go!

With e-bikes it’s also easy for less experienced bikers to enjoy these discove-ry tours as well. As one of the very first holiday destinations in the world, the Hochkönig region provides charging stations in the mountains, in the valleys, and up at the mountain huts.

Event highlightsEvents for a variety filled holiday:

• Kumpellauf Trail Running This mountain run at the Hochkönig is steeped in history and during the last 10 years has turned into a huge sports event for mountain runners and Nordic Walkers. As in former times the local mountain folk and the miners mastered the Kumpellauf on their cross country skies, it has now developed into specta- cular stages during the summer.

• St. Bartholomew’s Pilgrimage The pilgrimage to the St. Bartholomew’s pilgrimage church dates the right back to the time of the plague. Each year an annual pilgrimage takes place to St. Bartholomew’s church on the Saturday after the 24th August starting at Maria Alm over the “Steinerne Meer” to the Bavarian lake „Königssee“.

• The Farmer’s Autumn in Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach: Follow the trails of tradition & custom and enjoy some of the many events such as Frühschoppen, the farmer’s autumn festival, farmer’s theatres, autumn hikes with reflective mountain masses and the multi-coloured procession of beau- tifully decorated cattle being brought safely back down to the valleys after their summer on the mountain pastures.
