the catchment area population of the sub-region, however, is significantly higher, with up to one million people within thirty minutes drive time from its main centres and 2.7 million within an hour. there are 1 million people within 30miles of each town centre.

According to Job Centre Plus, there are consistently over 300 people in tees Valley looking for call centre related work, while around 8,000 staff currently work in the contact centre or outsourcing sectors in the area.

tees Valley is home to more than 29,000 students studying at both teesside and the expanding stockton campus of Durham university. teesside university was awarded ‘university of the Year’ in 2009 and ‘entrepreneurial university of the Year’ in 2010 at the times Higher education awards.

All tees Valley Colleges offer customer services training, with stockton Riverside College offering dedicated courses and having previously work with the likes of Barclaycard and orange. the six large colleges in tees Valley provide training opportunities for between 60/70,000 students every year.
