    TEDTalkReflection

    IdecidedthatfortheTEDtalkpresentation,thebestcourseofactionwouldbeto

    maintainthesamesubjectasmyresearchpaper.IprimarilydidthissoInothavetodomuch

    moreadditionresearch,andthereforehavemoretimetoputintomakingandpracticingthe

    presentation.AlthoughIkeptthesametopic,duetotimeconstraintsitwouldhavebeen

    impossibletotalkaboutallthethingsthatarediscussedintheresearchpaper,andsoInarrowed

    thescopeofthetopicfortheTEDtalk.Iroughlydiscussedthesametopics,butcutoutsomeand

    addedafew,suchastheshortdiscussionofMooresLaw,becauseIthoughttheywouldbe

    relevanttothetopicandwouldbeagoodvisualtodemonstratewhatIwastalkingabout.Even

    so,mypresentationsslideshowwastoolongIwasforcedtoskiponeofthelastslidesentirely

    becauseIwasrunningoutoftime.Therewereafewotherproblemswiththepresentation,buton

    thewholeIthoughtIdidfairly,comparedtohowpresentationshaveoftengoneformeinthe

    past.

    Icouldhaveeasilyavoidedsomeproblemsbysimplypracticingmore.Infact,Ithinkthis

    wouldhavefixedmostofmyproblems.HadIpracticedmore,therewouldhavebeenfewer

    unnecessarypausesandIwouldhaveknownthatIneededtocutaslideinordertostaywithin

    thetimelimit.TherewerealsoafewinstanceswhereIlostmytrainofthoughtforamomentand

  • hadtorestartasentenceinordertocompleteit.Thepresentationwasrelativelybumpyand

    roughinthatrespect,andmorethoroughpracticeandpreparationcouldhaveavoidedthis.IfI

    hadgiventhepresentationmoreefficiently,ImayhavealsobeenabletoincludetheslidethatI

    skippedduringthepresentation.Asidefromthat,Ithoughtthecontentofthepresentationwas

    appropriate.Ishouldhavetriedtohavemorevisualsinthepresentations,andperhapshavemore

    slides,withlesstimeperslide.Amoreactiveslideshowmaybebetterforkeepingtheaudience

    engaged.Overall,however,Ithoughtthetalkwentfairlywell,althoughitclearlyhadanumber

    ofproblems.
