Making Disciples Who Make Disciples Operation Christmas Child From Your Pastor

Go-Getter’s we hope you have had a good summer and are ready to kick off our new season. Mark your calendars for our upcoming meeting on September 10, 2019 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. We are looking forward to having the Joy Tappers and Kirstin Tanner back to perform for us once again. The Joy Tappers will add about 10 to 15 extra guests, so please add a little extra to your dish for our potluck dinner. We are looking forward to seeing you at our September 10th meeting. Ministry Kit Item – For September, we will continue supporting the Prisoner Christmas Packets. Two rolls of hard candy (such as Life Savers, Mentos, or Breath Savers) are needed for these packets. We need 50 additional rolls of candy to complete this item in the prisoner kits. We thank you so much for your donations to these ministry kits. Also, your contributions to our “Kitty”, which helps with the cost of our meetings and Go-Getter’s support of the Romania and West Virginia Mission trips each year, are very much appreciated.

Will you consider purchasing some items for OCC while you are out and about? Please drop these items off in the Missions Corner located in the Education Wing. Please contact Cindy Watts at 843.834.0697 if you have any questions. For September we will be collecting playdough, Chunky trucks, matchbox cars. October we will collect tennis balls.

I love the fall season. Football is starting back, the temperatures will eventually get into the pleasant range, and our ministries get back into full swing. Our Awana ministry began its new year the past Sunday and our Discipleship groups, Go-Getters, Choir and Praise Team will resume their normal schedules at the beginning of September. This is a great time to get involved in one or several of our ministries that are designed to help you grow in your love for the Lord and in your love for people. Be on the lookout for information on all of our ministries and how you can be involved in them. Also, make the commitment now to be involved in Sunday School and worship each Sunday morning.

A few weeks ago, Pam and I completed an estate plan through a free service of The Baptist Foundation of South Carolina. This is something that my parents did, and Pam and I wanted to make sure that we provide for our church through our estate as well. I mention this because I am asking you to consider including Deer Park Baptist as a part of your estate plan. How awesome would it be for you to remember your church in your will? If you would like more information about this service, you can contact me or the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina at 800-723-7242 ext. 8000. Remember, this is a free service offered to South Carolina Baptists.

I am looking forward to seeing how the Lord uses you and me over the coming months for His kingdom and His purpose. I will see you this Sunday morning in Sunday School at 9:45 and worship at 11:00.

I really do love being your pastor! Stephen

office, or left at the Food Pantry door in the hallway. All donations are appreciated!

Hopefully you know that the mission and goal of Deer Park Baptist Church is to “Make Disciples who make Disciples”. Hopefully you are actively involved in that mission! It’s not “the churches” mission...it is your mission!

One of the best “tools” for making disciples is Sunday School! If you are not yet plugged in to a Sunday School class I want to encourage you to commit to join one this month! I would love to help you find the class that is right for you!

Another great “tool” for making disciples is small group Bible study! We currently have several groups that meet weekly! There is at least one group for every stage of life! Students meet each Sunday night; Men meet each Monday morning; Young Adults meet each Tuesday night; and Women meet each Thursday! And there are others!!

We also have several other opportunities coming soon for you to grow in your faith and walk with God and others! Our new season of Adult Discipleship begins Sunday, September 8th! Stay tuned for more information.

Attention Reading Partners: If you are interested in serving this Fall please let me know!
