Currently, multimode fiber applications i.e. 40 Gb/s (40GBASE-SR4) and 100 Gb/s (100GBASE-SR4) are deployed for backbone switch-to-switch links in the data center. These are based on 8 optical fibers with 4 fibers transmitting and 4 receiving at either 10 Gb/s or 25 Gb/s. When using 12-fiber MPO/MTP solutions for these 8-fiber applications, 33 percent of the optical fiber goes unused. While conversion cords or modules can be used to enable 100% fiber utilization, these solutions add additional cost and complexity. Furthermore, conversion modules add increased insertion

In continuation of its efforts to further enhance the ecosystem and to kick off its Mumbai office’s operations, Mr. Jerome Belan, EMEA CEO at PNY technologies recently visited India. By this visit, PNY confirms the great impor-tance of Indian market, which is undergoing surging demand for GPU industry and promises a future of strong growth and ROI. During the visit, his primary aim was to engage and guide the newly appointed team of PNY to further strengthen their focus in India with renewed and long term strategy investing in resources.“The Indian Market is of key importance for

Hacking used to require a distinct set of skills and capabilities. These days, attack services are bought and sold via marketplaces on the Clearnet and Dark-net—a phenomenon that’s closing the gap between skilled and amateur hackers and fueling an exponential increase in threats.

Thanks to the growing array of online market-places, it’s now possible to wreak havoc even if you know virtually nothing about computer pro-gramming or networks. As attack tools and ser-vices become increasingly easy to access, the pool of possible attackers—and possible targets—is larger than ever. While many hacktivists still pre-fer to enlist their own digital “armies,” some are discovering that it’s faster and easier to pay for DDoS-as-a- Service than to recruit members or build their own botnet. Highly skilled, financial-ly-motivated hackers can be invaluable resources to hacktivists seeking to take down a target.By commoditizing hacktivist activities, hacking marketplaces have also kicked off a dangerous business trend. Vendors are now researching new methods of attack and incorporating more effi-cient and powerful vectors into their offerings. Already some of the marketplaces offer a rating system so users can provide feedback on the tools. Ultimately, this new economic system will reach a steady state—with quality and expertise rewarded with a premium.Profiles in Hacking – Who’s Participating in Today’s Hacking Community? ConsumersThis is the largest segment—and the one driving the rapid growth of attack marketplaces. These are low or non-skilled hacktivists who pay to par-ticipate in an operation. Without the knowhow

for do-it-yourself campaigns, they spend $20 to $200 per month on attack services that give them access to an easy-to-use attack portal.HackersThese are the hackers who have the wherewithal to carry out their own attacks and spearhead hacktivists operations. They have a good enough understanding of networking and programming to write their own attack programs, as well as build their attack platforms by exploiting cloud and trusted services. Given their skills, hackers are not constrained by an attack time limit or power. Consequently, they are capable of launch-ing sustained, long-term attacks against their tar-gets, sometimes at very high volumes.VendorsThis segment is home to hackers who have real-ized they can generate a great profit by providing attack services to consumers. As in any economic system, higher quality or sophistication yields greater returns and forces improvement. Some vendors are selling enough services to generate more than $100,000 a year. AppleJ4ck, the ven-dor behind vDoS, the DDoS-for-hire service1, allegedly made $600,000 in just two years before being arrested. What Motivates Hacking? In previous reports, Radware has used Richard Clarke’s acronym—C.H.E.W. (Cybercrime, Hack-tivism, Espionage, Warfare)—to categorize the origins of cyber risk. Now we introduce P.E.D. (Profit, Evasion, Disruption) as an acronym for the three core motivations reflecting the evolution of the hacker community:ProfitNot surprisingly, money is the primary motiva-tion in the attack marketplace. Those who want to commit a crime—but don’t know how to exe-cute—will always pay someone to do it for them. And with demand outpacing supply, this is one crime that pays. Vendors offering application exploits can generate thousands of dollars from selling one exploit on the Darknet.EvasionThe ability to evade detection is one of the most important capabilities a vendor offers to his or her business and clients. Vendors are highly motivated to stay on top of the market. After all, detection or mitigation of their services will cost them customers and profits. Thus, vendors con-tinually research and discover new attack meth-ods to help their clients bypass mitigation tech-niques and take down their targets undetected.DisruptionThis represents one of the primary motivators for hacktivist groups. Hacktivists are motivated to disrupt their target’s operations and/or repu-tation; vendors thrive by investing in researching and discovering new attack vectors. A vendor offering the most disruptive power for the lowest price will stand to do more business than his or her competition. What are the Tools of the Trade? The Anonymous 2016 toolkit has been passed around a number of operations. It provides attack tools with a simple, easy-to-use graphical user interface (GUI). Using these tools requires little knowledge as they are often accompanied by instruction videos posted to YouTube. Most tools offer basic TCP, UDP and HTTP attack-vectors with slight variations. Some enable the attacker to customize payload options—includ-ing packet size, randomized data, threads and sockets per thread—in the tools. While low and slow attacks are not prevalent in the popular 2016 toolkits, HTTP attacks are a popular vector. SPECIAL NEWS

McAfee released findings from a recent global study, “New Family Dynamics in a Connected World,” that aims to better comprehend how families’ attitudes and habits are evolving as their homes and lifestyles become increas-ingly connected. This study underscores the need for simple ways for parents to manage internet connectivity in their homes – from blocking inappropriate sites to controlling the amount of time users spend on their devices. The growing integration of connected devices in the lives of children is paving way for unique and hackable gateways for cybercriminals into the smart home network of consumers. Gart-ner forecasts that “there will be more than 10.5 billion ‘things’ in homes by 2020,” which, we believe, would further create a larger potential risk that the devices and personal data, that flow from them, can be compromised. While internet-connected devices offer consumers new opportunities, they can also come with some drawbacks and potential risks that can be the detriment of relationships.“In today’s connected world, parents play a cru-cial role to decide on the usage of technology and how it can influence their kids’ lives,” said Anand Ramamoorthy, Managing Director, South Asia, McAfee. “As Indians shift towards smart connected homes, we must help parents actively manage the way their families interact with con-nected devices to ensure that security and pri-vacy measures are implemented. When these measures are realized consumers can enjoy the full potential that connected devices and smart homes have to offer.”Current Monitoring Methods Don’t Keep Pace with Technology • Parents tend to use older methods to moni-tor the device usage of their children. For exam-ple, 59% of Indian parents monitor their child’s device usage by keeping the device in their possession and only giving the child the device when the parent can monitor. Only 36% of Indian parents are using software to monitor.• 49% of Indian parents are concerned about their child potentially interacting with a social predator or cybercriminal online.Today’s Digital Habits Cause New Parenting Concerns • Bedtime habits have changed a lot since the

Almost Half of Indian Parents Are Concerned About Stranger

Danger, Reveals McAfeeintroduction of smartphones and tablets. 84% of Indian parents allow their child to bring an inter-net-connected device to bed.• Not only are parents concerned about who their children are interacting with online, they are also monitoring how much time they spend in front of a screen. 57% of Indian parents allow their child to have 1-2 hours of screen time per day, and 21% allow their child less than one hour a day.• The need for monitoring internet usage is real, though, with 54% of Indian parents claim-ing they have discovered that their child visited an inappropriate website, highest when com-pared to 13 other countries:o Australia (26%), Brazil ( 4 5 % ) , C a n a d a ( 2 5 % ) , F r a n c e (41%), G e r -many ( 33% ) , I ta l y (33%) , Japan (18%) , M e x - i c o ( 35% ) , N e t h -er lands ( 2 6 % ) , Singapore (37%), Spain (32%), U.S. (37%), U.K. (23%)• 50% of Indians stated that they have argued with their child about bringing a device to bed.• Conversely, kids aren’t the only ones who are using devices when they shouldn’t: Approx-imately 71% of Indian parents surveyed also claimed that their child has called them out for being on their device during family time. The Good News: Online Safety Conversations Are Happening Between Parents and ChildrenIndian parents understand the importance of talking to their children about the potential dan-gers on the internet, with roughly 93% having addressed the risks with their children at some point.Tips to Keep Families Secure in Year AheadTo stay protected in the evolving online world, McAfee has the following tips for parents:Start conversations early. If you start talking about online safety early on, it will make your job that much easier when your children get older. If your kids are young, you can start with simple rules like “don’t open emails from people you don’t know.” Treat rules for online behavior

just like any other rules. You want online safety to be part of normal behavior.• Set a good example. It’s easy to get caught up spending a lot of time paying attention to our smartphones and tablets. Kids pick up our habits, both good and bad, so you can set a pos-itive example for them by limiting your time on social networks around them. Putting down the phone during dinner and family time will let your children know the importance of interact-ing with others in person as opposed to online.• Set password rules. To show camaraderie and trust, teens may share their social media passwords with friends or acquaintances. Friend or not, this is a dangerous practice. Put a con-sequence in place for breaking this critical pass-word rule.• Gain access. Parents should have passwords for their children’s social media accounts and passcodes to their children’s devices which allow them to have full access.• Up your tech knowledge. Stay one step ahead and take the time to research the various devices your kids use, as well as creating your social media accounts. Staying knowledgeable about the newest and latest social networks is an important way to understand how they work and may help you determine whether your kids are on them.• Keep strangers out. As children use technol-ogy so frequently they can become desensitized and let their guard down, potentially allowing the wrong people into their circle. Your child could be interacting with (and manipulated by) a social predator or dangerous person posing as a teen (catfish). A false sense of security can set in not just on social networks it applies to services such as Uber*, Lyft*, and Craig’s List*, where safety is an assumption. Remind kids that anyone can create a profile and to turn down friend requests from strangers.• Take control of your home network. The home network is the hub for all of your con-nected devices. New solutions, such as McAfee Secure Home Platform, help you easily manage and protect devices connected to this network while providing parental controls with permis-sions that can be tailored to the entire house-hold.

The association has also never failed to involve the family of the members into the activities.

One of the key success methods of the asso-ciation is segregating the project within the office bearers. “We had 6 office bearers and 6 EC members. Every team of office bearer and EC member will take care of one activity and set short-term and long-term goals. With that, we were able to achieve desired results as it had cropped up healthy competition within the team resulting in the overall success”, Arun Subbu Rangan concluded.
