Technology Transformation Tactical Team (T4) MeetingCustomer Care Center - Focus on Leadership and Vision
• The service portfolio needs to be updated. Decided to update the service portfolio each semester, e.g. July
and January.
• The organization portfolio needs to be updated. Plan to have the structure in place by mid-May. Plan to have
it finalized by July 1st.
• Need to update the measure performance process to include the customer advocacy assignments.
• Need a better process for managing customer advocacy. A CCC rep will review the status of the service
request, reach to customer to see how they can assist, reach out to other teams to see what can be done to
resolve the issue. Also, please the advocacy notes on the performance excellence review e-mails that go out
each day.
• Will look at the process of 1-4 priority and make sure we are sending Tier 4 status checks.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) Publishing
Technology Leader Panel
On April 11, 2018, as part of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) publishing, Frankie Jackson participated in a
technology leader panel with Lenny Schad (CTO at Houston ISD), Jeff Kohrman (Information Technology Officer
at Spring ISD), and Darlene Rankin (Director of Instructional Technology at Katy ISD). Trish Torizzo served as
the moderator for the following questions. HMH is one of the nation’s largest publisher for educational materials.
The panel was there to provide guidance to help HMH do a better job at delivering electronic textbooks.
1. How is the role of the K-12 CIO and technology
leader changing?
2. What are you doing to ensure privacy of your
student data? What do you feel providers like HMH
should be doing as an industry to help you with
this?
2. What technologies do you see that are making an
impact on learning outcomes?
4. Has your district been implementing 1:1 programs?
What benefits have you encountered? What are the
impediments to implementation?
5. Is your district Google or Microsoft? Why?
6. What is one thing you'd like to see improved in the
products and services you receive from publishing

Conference Call with BrightBytes: A Learning Analytics
Company to Measure Technology Outcomes
Frankie Jackson participated in a conference call on April 11, 2018 with
BrightBytes, a learning analytics company that combines data with educational
research to inform and measure improved learning outcomes.
With the large implementation of technology provided by the 2014 Bond and the
possibility of assessing the need for an upcoming Bond in 2020, a system like
BrightBytes could be beneficial.
BrightBytes provides a
research-based online
platform that measures
the effectiveness of
technology in schools
and offers data-driven
recommendations.
When Frankie was at
the 2018 Consortium of
School Networking
(CoSN) conference she
attended a session with
BrightBytes and
district’s from around
the nation that use it.

Meeting with Catapult to Engage in Contracted Services
for Microsoft’s Active Directory and Domain Services
With the resignation of Josh Zhang in the Network
Management Operations (NMO) team, staff augmentation
is needed to “bridge the gap” until his position can be
backfilled. Frankie Jackson, Paula Ross and Greg
Rhodes met with representatives from Catapult on Friday,
April 13, 2018. We have worked with Catapult Systems in
the past. They helped with the Novell Groupwise to
Microsoft O365 conversion.
Greg Rhodes has met with their representatives and
members of their engineering team. With Catapult’s
knowledge and experience, we believe they can come in
and continue with the Microsoft Active Directory
implementation once Josh leaves on April 20, 2018. The
proposed activities in their scope include are shown on
the right. Currently the team is assessing the scope of
work and working to get approvals so Catapult
Can begin work.
Management of Active Directory
Management of Domain Network Services
Management of Dynamic Host Configuration
Protocol (DHCP)
Management of Group Policy
Management of servers
Active Directory diagrams and associated
documentation
Design and Implementation assistance for:
o Windows Server
o Implement Group Policies
o Domain Network Services
o File Services
o Fault-Tolerance
o Certificate Services
o Enhanced Security Admin Environment
o Remote Access
o Process Automation
o Monitoring and reporting
o Patching and updates
The Microsoft Active Directory
upgrade will need to be placed on hold
once Josh leaves if we cannot backfill
his position and bring Catapult in to
augment staffing on our team.

CypherSecurity eLock360 Product
Enhancements Requested
Frankie Jackson met with Kelli Hanson, a representative from
CypherSecuriity, on April 13, 2018 to discuss their eLock360 data protection
software. The district’s cybersecurity services team evaluated eLock360 and
compared the capabilities to other available cybersecurity products. In
March, the CyFair team recommended to work with CypherSecurity to help
enhance the eLock360 product. We asked to continue using the product at
no charge for the next 12 months and during this time, work with their
company to build out the product for the K-12 market.
During the meeting, Frankie delivered a list of 8 new enhancements that the
CyberSecurity services team had prepared. Kelli sent our desired
enhancements to their technical team to setup a meeting to discuss the
improvements and establish a timeline for completion. This is great news!

April 13, 2018
On Wednesday I presented on a Technology
Leadership Panel with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
Publishing, along with 3 other Chief Technology
Officers in the area. It was a reminder of how
complex the business of education is. Publishers are working
hard to try and make processes easier but they don’t
understand our challenges. Districts that aren’t centralized
and don’t have the robust infrastructure like we do have even
greater challenges, then without smart, stable staff – it’s
almost impossible to manage. I left feeling more blessed than
ever. Thank you team! – Frankie Jackson
